If your players are anything like mine they have been chomping at the bit for this new season of Encounters to begin and have all created their characters in advance. This means that session 0 is usually a very brief affair of seeing who's playing what and then nothing.
When I'm able to receive the adventure pack with enough time (not always the case in the UK, sometimes not getting it until the night of session 0

) I like to create an intro encounter to get the players into the story.
Having read through the setup and first chapter of "Against the Cult" I have come up with the idea of having the party's caravan attacked by a small group of bandits. This reinforces Wyndell's fears. However, unless the party begin to struggle, I intend to have Sir Moonbrook hold himself and his squires back - allowing him to assess the capabilities of these heroes that have joined his cause in action.
Is anyone else planning on running an intro encounter, if so what ideas do you have?
"Well that encounter was easy....er, guys, why is the DM grinning?" (party members last words)
It's not a party till the screaming starts!
