I've organised to run a "Discover Dungeons and Dragons" day at my local games shop, BattleQuest Games, here in Horsham on Saturday July 23 from 9:30am until 5:00pm. The aim is to hopefully introduce people who've never played before to the hob of roleplaying games as well as hopefully raising awareness locally that there is some roleplaying being organised. We're hoping that BattleQuest Games will be able to take part in the forthcoming Worldwide D&D Game Day (Saturday August 6) and a future season of D&D Encounters.
If you are in the area, maybe consider dropping by and checking out what's going on. Thanks - Neil.

Sounds a great idea, what are you going to run adventure wise?
I'm interested as it may be a way of getting my local game store to become more interested in hosting D&D events in future too.
"Well that encounter was easy....er, guys, why is the DM grinning?" (party members last words) It's not a party till the screaming starts!

Ooh Horsham isn't a million miles from me. I don't know if I can make that date but if you need DM's and players we have a few quality ones locally who may be able and willing to come along.
How many tables do you have?

Answering questions in order:
what are you going to run adventure wise? The plan is to mainly use stuff from the Red Box with characters created using Essentials and the Character Builder. I'm not expecting to hold players interest for more than a couple of hours, so really want to hit the ground running as soon as they sit down. If it turns out to be a quiet day and I get a group that want to do more, then I will throw some extra encounters together as required.
How many tables do you have? For the Discover day, just one s the shop isn't massive and the shop still needs to be able to trade as well. If it takes off then we might be able to host more for the Neverwinter D&D day (if we get approved) or for some more regular roleplaying nights. I'll just have to see how it goes. Definitely watch this space though, as any developments will be posted here.
- Neil.
