Is this something that your kids are into?  My son loves to make versions of his favorite character as PC's.  The other have not been so much into it.

But anyway, we did Finn and Jake - human paladin fey beast tamer and he have been playing him (them?) at Encounters, demon slaying pink sweater and all.

Now we've gone another direction.  Blood+.  Saya Otonoshi.  Right now were looking at a vyrloka avenger, yakuza theme.  Of course if he's gonna be Saya, I have to be Hagi.  That's been a much harder one.  We've settled on a defender role after briefly looking at vampire and hexblade.  The shield is the thing.  We've tried berseker, battlemind, fighter, paladin, cavelier.  And both revenant and vyrloka.  Its been great fun debating the options and reasoning out which ones fit best.  Right now Hagi is leaning toward vyrloka cavelier (virtue of sacrifice) with guardian theme.  But could go fighter. The universe is the guardian theme stays.

Anyone else make PCs modeled on your kids' favorite character from tv/books/movies?

Not really, my kids have long experience in asking us what we do when we play D&D.

So both of them know that we choose characters by class and race. So when we started I gave them a bunch of races (with picture) they choose one of.

Then they told me they likes and dislikes for the character. So we got a druid and a thief.

My daughter likes to create her favourite characters as PCs but then again as a 7 year old i kind of expect that from her. I certainly dont discourage her as it can get very funny and surreal !

My son on the other hand who is now 14 these days like to use real world facts etc and writes his games around them. Having said that he isnt so much into D&D and he prefers Savage Worlds and mainly pulp or WW2 type settings.
