Has anyone else noticed that the line powers listed in the bestiary lack widths? Check out the blue dragon, black dragon, behir, ankheg, and any other creature with a power with a line AoE. The How to Play doc states that line powers need a width. Maybe there is a missing sentence adding a 5 foot wide default or these are simply oversights.

I noticed that with a Black Dragon's acid breath. I assumed 5 feet was the minimum width if not specified.

I saw that and mentioned it in my last feedback.
I also assumed that it was intended to be 5'.
Aside: Line is the weakest of the breath shapes (the least likely one to catch multiple players unless they are forcedd into a narrow long corridor. I'd like to see some tweaking there...

I agree that the line seems really weak, but if it's supposed to be 10' or even 15' wide with the dragons then it could be pretty formidable. I'm going to add it to my next feedback to reinforce your comment.

When I was thinking about "how do I visualize a dragon using a straight line breath weapon" - I asked myself what would happen if they moved their head around as they did it.
They either get a cone (which is how I would probably change it to make it easier - give them a cone of the length of the current line) or (if you assume that it angles down from the dragon and actually hits only one target at a time - which fits better with my visualization) you ends up with a shape that is best described by a 'wall' from 4E that represents the end point of the line - and needn't be straight across, as the dragon adjusts his aim to move from target to target.
BOth sound interesting - although the cone is the easiest to implement.

or perhaps, sticking with the moving the head idea, we go back to different distances based off different shapes

Like: 50 ft line or 30 ft cone? That would be interesting.

A couple points.
One, the dragons with line breath weapons, I think they are intended to be weaker, it's not just an arbitrary choice.
For another, look at the actual breath type before assuming it will shape into a cone if the dragon swings it's head, I don't think it would really do that!
Black dragon: line, acid. This could be more like a cone if the dragon swung it's head around while breathing, but I think if you want to realisticly picture it it's more likely to pool up into a big puddle where it is aimed, which would cause ongoing damage to anything in it, instead of being a single attack.
Blue dragon, line, lightning. As a lightning or electrical breath, it would occur nearly instantaniously like a lightning bolt, so moving the head wouldn't do anything IMO. Unless you picture it more like force lightning from the emperor in return of the jedi.

They have longer range, it isn't weaker.
