I think I like how they balanced healing word against Cure Light Wounds. A ranged, fast heal that only heals 1d6 vs. a slow, close range heal that heals 1d8+4. Things get more interesting at 3rd level with the healer's touch feat: with max healing, it's now 6 hp of healing vs. 12. A cool choice. What I don't like is, why are there no 2nd level and 3rd level version of Healing word? CLW scales to CMW and CSW, why is healing word left in the dust?
well the did originally state that they were going to give a spell escalation effect of sorts. casting in a higher slot gives more effect
While I would like that to happen eventually, I'm just trying to focus on what we have now. That is, CLW has higher level versions and HW does not. In the current situation, HW quickly becomes irrelevant and all clerics are forced into slow healing.
I feel it's weird that a 1st level cleric has 2 choices in his style of healing and a level 5 cleric has just one style available (because CSW is just damn strong).
well, how about you just add in "Moderate Healing Word 2d6"
"Serious Healing Word 3d6"
For an home game, I'd probably do just that. But I'm try to playtest the rules as they are written, to give more accurate feedback. This is my feedback
so your feedback is that their second content update doesnt have all the content? are you serious>
No no wait. My feedback is: I see there is a problem here right now. I don't know if you know about this problem yet, so I'm just going to show it to you. If you already knew about the problem and had plans to deal with it, great.
Since it is something that I'm noticing during my playtest and I playtest by RAW, I'm just going to say it.
I stil vote for just two spells (Cure Wounds and Healing Word) that heal for 1 die per spell level spent.
