Hey now, there's no 'falling for it'.  Rashalik Mans(that suave and debonair rogue) is a fair response to the (still unnamed)Bizzaro-Anjelica.

Debonair rogue, hah!  More like unwashed miscreant.

Less Bizarro-Anjelika (or would that be Angelique?  Hrm...sounds appropriately bizarro) and more irritation at people who want to kill things they're not interested just for kicks.  It'd be like me joining a pvp-centric MMO (I despise pvp 98% of the time) then whining because the people wouldn't let me quest solo in peace.  Yah...some people do that, but it's still annoying.

As far as the list itself is concerned, since the OP is talking purely hypothetically, I should be able to respond in kind!  I don't actually want them killed off, though.  Just removed as given assumptions.

Ok, so I lie a bit.  There IS one thing I'd like to see go away - though I know it won't.
Erratta.
I don't care how broken _____ seems.  Just leave it alone.  Tell people up front that they are expected to alter rules however they see fit to please the groups they actually play with.

wel for errate i would like to see them use one new base rule, and that would be the folowing.

when a option newly introduced in a book gives problems when used in combination with a rule or option given in a earlyer book the option in the new book should be changed so it works with was published ealyer.

and when slaying sacret cows i would slay the dead tree way of roleplay.
Many groups i know already play 4th with only a rules compendium or DMG at the table and do all the rest in DDI.
So make DDI leading and yes you can still get the books in printed form, but DDI would be leading.

Hey, whoa.  I have it on good authority that he showers everyday, uses deodorant, and sometimes even cologne.

See, this sounds agreeable when you say it, but I still have the distinct impression that if I gave a list of my own, in the same style as yours, but from my own side/view, it would absolutely be a Rashalik Mans post.

Seriously, though, you should check out the PbP Haven.  You might also like Real Adventures, IF you're cool.

Kill the original 4 classes. Now, I have no good reason for doing so; I'm just sick of them and wish to see them put to rest. Heck, if not kill them, at least kill the cow that requires them to show up in the PHB.

Recreational genocide as a default way to personal enlighment.
But it's hardly a deal breaker for me, house ruling XP is pretty easy.
Other than that I'm mostly fine, as both vancian and alignment will be optional enough to be easily avoided if irritating.

The very idea that there are 'sacred cows' when it comes rules and mechanics.

Nothing. I'd return to almost entirely old school (ie pre-3rd). It's D&D, not some other game. Why would I want things that aren't D&D like to have the name D&D? If I wanted those I'd just go play a different game.
DISCLAIMER - Everything said by anyone is absolute subjective opinion. There are no objective claims being made by me, or anyone else, unless they overtly state 'The following is an objective claim'. At this point if you choose to be offended by anything I (or anyone else) say the problem is ENTIRELY your own.

WotC won't let us give them money because they won't produce a game we want to play.

The hero's journey does start with the character being a hero.  In every mythic structure ever, the hero's journey heroes are born special.  There's not one that is just "some guy."  They are universally children of deities, kings, magical births, etc.  I literally cannot think of a single example of the hero's journey in myth that does what you are suggesting.

Hell, even modern takes on the hero's journey start with heroes.  Luke Skywalker is the son of the most powerful force user ever, Harry Potter is famous for beating a villain as an infant, etc.

The hero may start as a farmer or whatever, but he's never a normal farmer, he's a farmer who can bullseye womprats, juggle cows, or turn his step-siblings into monkeys by getting them to climb too high in a tree.

Of course, the hero's journey also lacks an ensemble cast--at best, you might get hero twins.  It's always "the hero and his companions," really, so the hero's journey is probably not the best premise to work from in an RPG anyway.
