Just a thought, but how would people feel if there was a way of saving CS dice from round to round? That way fighters could still occasionally unleash some massive hits.
I had two ways in mind: The simple way is a rule that allows fighters to hold CS dice in reserve equal to their level.
A more complex way is to let a fighter roll their CS dice and if they meet a target number (or go under a target number), they can hold it in reserve. If they fail the roll, the dice is lost.
How do we feel about the idea in principle?

Wouldn't dailies be easier/better represented as setting your Combat Superiority dice aside?
For example:
Daily Attack A: You may spend X Combat Superiority dice to [insert effect here]. These dice cannot be recovered until you take a long rest.

I think there's room for either implementation. Although, I think writing dailies into the system would reawaken the "Fighters have spells!" crowd.
I also think I'd prefer it if CS dice uses were left a bit more freeform than the powers of 4e.

You're right, that would awaken bad responses. From me, among others.

Something like this is basically what I'd want, though I'd lean towards short rest recovery rather than long rest recovery, either one works imo.

I'm not fan of fighter spells but that works while being unique to the fighter. It's a nice way of handling fatigue. Burn yourself out until you take a short rest or really strain something and lose combat superiority until your next long rest.
