What is being criticized are racial abilities that are not racial; things that are learned, not genetic, should not be racial traits because they are not going to be uniform across settings and may not be appropriate in individual homebrews.
If, for example, in my game world dwarves and giants are not enemies, dwarves shouldn't get any kind of bonus to fight giants. This is a learned thing, not genetic, and shouldn't be baked into a racial package.
Yes that is true but then you probably need to abolish racial weapon bonuses altogether and allow players to pick from introductory 'racial' feats - possibly linked to your background.
I'd love to abolish racial weapon bonuses.
I'd also like to have a Race and a Culture game construct, but I'm sure others would prefer not to add yet another layer onto chargen.
More sex and gender equality and racial equality shouldn't even be an argument--it should simply be an assumption for any RPG that wants to stay relevant in the 21st century.
I could say anything in D&D is silly though, because it's a silly game and we are silly people.

+1.
My character is called Ryotto Tyrannicide, wich comes from "tyrannicidal riot".
He wields two magic swords: King Beheader (as in "Beheader of Kings", not "King the Beheader") and Chain Splitter. He's also a bit of a skirt-chaser.
So yeah, I REALLY hope you have some Lawful Evil bad guys prepared for me. Government/trade/church conspiracies are optional, but highly recommended.

Ok, so who didn't wanted race and culture to be a separate thing?

Evidently, Gygax.
Another day, another three or four entries to my Ignore List.

I wish they would encourage the players' to construct a culture(s) for the individual races at the start of a new campaign, with guidelines and suggestions to fill out the details. If a player can design the culture his PC grew up in, it adds a lot more immersion for them. I definitely feel like you can take this a step forward and support this with mechanics, like favored enemy and unique traits that are, in this way, voluntarily taken. Though in some ways I could see this being abused by CharOps, I feel like it could be a powerful support for role-playing.

And those were bad things, too. The existence of the situation in the Horn of Africa doesn't make living in the ghetto in America not suck.

Well at the time Gygax was writing the 1e rules AD&D racial abilities were based around Lord of the Rings and the first game worlds did operate under those stereotypes. It was also assumed that PC elves would be hill dwarves and high elves! It isn't Gygax's fault that subsequent rules carried the stereotypes forward even when the genre diversified and new game worlds were introduced, although new sub-races, like kender, did come along.
However, while I don't disagree with the sentiment, this won't be the default position because they will not want to add further layers of complication into the starting rules (the best you can hope for is them breaking down racial packages under sub-headings that will help modularise later amendments). If you want this to happen then put your heads together now and come up with a rules module that contains viable options. Obviously, you can't go overboard at this stage but it won't hurt to moot ideas until the character generation rules are showcased.
If on the other hand you just want to moan about past rules and you will throw your toys out of the pram if your notion doesn't make it into core until the thread chokes to death on its own pointlessness, you can do that too!
