Actually, what they said was that it was "too early to say for sure".
It's hilarious that people keep missing that part of the sentence... over, and over, and over, and over.
Leadership and class choice should have NOTHING to do with each other, EVER.
Conflating the two is simply horrendous game design.

All I know for sure, folks, is that I have no interest in a game with "core classes", where that distinction leads to a small number of classes.
As many classes as fit into the game. I don't want the list artificially restricted or enflated, even by one class, but I'd rather have 12 extra classes than even one less than there reasonably could be.
Rex: I don't expect to see Illusionists, at least in the PHB, unless someone is inspired early on with some brand new mechanics that don't just mirror a wizard with illusion spells. Also, you missed the assassin.
More sex and gender equality and racial equality shouldn't even be an argument--it should simply be an assumption for any RPG that wants to stay relevant in the 21st century.
I could say anything in D&D is silly though, because it's a silly game and we are silly people.
