Hello! I was wondering if it would be OK to try to run the playtest stuff as a PbP, using the WotC Group system here on the boards. I would assume it would take a private group, so that non-playtesters couldn't get a hold of playtesting materials.

Anyway, I thought it would be a cool way to actually playtest the material, since I don't actually have a D&D group together at the moment.

OK, where is the FAQ that thread is referring to? Also, it seems that they are talking about third-party programs (Skype, etc), whereas I'm talking about the WotC boards themselves.

And that thread still wasn't particularly clear in its response ...

But thank you for the information!

The FAQ can be found here.

Unfortunately, play-by-post is specifically called out as being on the "no" list.

*cough* That link takes me to this thread. *cough*

Well, pooh. Now you D&D people will only get my "armchair" opinion on things.

Thank you!

But .... But ... It says you can't run games on third party sites ... this is wizards.com ...

Loophole?

EDIT: I see that you can't run it on the Virtual Table, so ... yeah. Really, this last post wasn't that serious, just trying to get what I want.

As you said, this is Wizards' own site.

The FAQs say:

Can I run an online game via email, Skype, Google Hangout or a play-by-post forum?

No, you may not run an online game on third parties sites at this time.

Luckily this very site isn't a "third parties site."

Well that just stinks..... I was hoping to see how the new rules played in PbP.

Not even on the virtual tabletop? How weird.
