Skimming the Playtest Bestiary it looks as though some of the monsters are extremely overpowered. The Grey Ooze for example can cause penalties to your weapons and armors that persist until you get them repaired. The Medusa is also worrysome since it can turn you into stone 'permanetly'. Granted you can avoid the effect by looking away from it, but that grants combat advantage and gives you attack disadvantage. Some of this stuff definitely needs to be adjusted if you even want to use it in the playtest.

Feature, not a bug.

I'm more worried about the gray ooze than the medusa. As long as the gray ooze mechanic doesn't become supremely common, I'm ok with it. That's standard fare for medusas.

I gotta agree with this guy. If you're worried about dying, maybe adventuring isn't for you.

If you read the opening paragraph of the Caves of Chaos, they come straight out and say that the purpose of this playtest is not to test the balance of monsters verses players. It's about whether the game is fun for all styles of play. They aren't that worried if the monsters are balanced yet. They're still working on that.
