Q210 Maybe I missed it but, the pre-gen wizard has an AC of 12. Is there a Base AC if not wearing armor? He has no armor on so how can it be that high? He gets a +2 from Dexterity Mod but what about the 10?

A210 Your base AC is 10+ Dex modifier if you wear no armor. From the Character Creation PDF, page 2: Your character’s armor, shield, Dexterity modifier, and other features contribute to Armor Class, which represents how hard your character is to hit in battle. If you choose not to wear armor, your AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier. Otherwise, calculate your AC using the numbers given for the armor or shield in the “Equipment” document, and record total.

A211: By being offered by Wizard to playtest anything D&D (not just D&D Next), with playtest reports, deadlines and all that. Its a different thing.

Oooh... wizard duels. Very cool. I just finished War of the Spider Queen, and the duel from book 6 was epic. I'm not sure how this would be implemented, but you know that each caster is going to prepare a lot of Counterspells for maximum effect.

Q213: Do spells get dmg bonus from ability mod? Rules imply they do.
So the damage rolls section says to add any modifiers including the ability modifier to damage, with spells and attacks. So does Shocking Grasp with a 16 (+3) Intellegence do 1d8 +7? (1d8 +4 from spell + 3 from intellegence?) And if it doesn't, then do no spells gain the damage bonus?
How to play- Damage rolls
"Each weapon and spell indicates the damage it deals, such as 1d8 or 2d8. Roll the dice, add any modifiers (including the ability modifier you used to make the attack), and apply the damage to your target."

A213: The Damage Roll entry contains older bit of text when Magic Ability used to add to both attack and damage rolls. Spells do not get to add ability scores modifiers to damage roll, only to the attack roll, according to Magic Ability entry of Ability Scores (How To Play pg. 05).
