...I'm sorry, did you play 4e? Errata wasn't sporadic and rare. It's a monthly event for us, and was used to patch and fix overpowered builds and feats. It was also used to patch skill challenges and stealth rules. Errata. That not everyone has access to and they rarely use to fix print books. Wizard spells got new school keywords? We didn't reprint all of the wizard's spells, we just errata'd the ones that didn't have it, because it was a major nerf to the Mage and other subclasses who relied on those keywords to pick spells. Kulkor Arms Master overpowered since the release of Essentials, and it's appearance in the Martial Power 2 sourcebook? It can make wizards into top-notch strikers with competitive DPR. Using MBAs. Fixed via errata and not patch-fixing it through feats.

I'm really curious as to how 'here is the errata they put out routinely' gets translated 'as not sporadic or rare'
Not to mention the fact I subscribe to DDI...so clearly, I must donate money to large multinational corporations.  that makes more sense than playing the game for which DDI is designed.

I also like how you have apparantly the reader comprehension of a three year old 'Errata is resevered to fix major game breaks'
'here is everal game breaks to show that errata is used to fix it, so you must not have played 4e'

Do you see how ignorant you come out?

You address not the real concern with using the internet only for errata;
1. Not everyone uses the internet.
2. Everyone who uses the internet does not specifically implement the errata in it.

Proof for 1.

www.newmediatrendwatch.com/world-overvie...]
Europe: 500,723,686 (22.1%)
North America: 273,067,546 (12.0%)

This specifically is number of users, since they seperate 'Latin' America from North America, I hesitate where to put Mexico specifically, but even assuming best, you are talking ~66% able to access the internet.

Proof for 2.
How many use always hit Magic Missile?   wrote:

Sooo; since at least one group does one can presume that errata is not universally implemented.  As soon as its not universally implemented, statement 2 comes into effect.

So, no. Feat Taxes to fix these are not okay. If they don't work out of the box as well as other classes, you fix it so they do without forcing the player to spend more resources to shore up that disadvantage.

I never said it was OK, its just the way Every system fixes it.
nWod and oWod both did it, Palladium only does it this way, GURPS too.

Eventually system bloat reaches the point (for most) that it is required to have a new edition.  The fact you don't grasp this...is...interesting.

WEEKS LATER.... Seriously, was there a need to drag this up?

But just to solve this: Shadowrun, Exalted, Pathfinder, D&D3.5, the entire 40k line, Mutants and Masterminds, Dragon Age. Look at that, a whole handful of games that do not use feat taxes to fix their problems.

Perhaps you could actually look around before you call anyone ignorant. The fact is, we have errata, and these feats were entirely unnecessary. They could have, in fact, fixed these problems via errata. These same people who don't use errata, are also unlikely to care if they get those feat taxes or not. If they don't, then they are unaffected, and will continue to play the game as-is. Flawed or not. In fact, most of these people won't even notice the problem, because unless they sit down and do the math, like CharOp did, they wouldn't notice the 3~5 point failure in scaling.
