I'm a bit surprised the news about Monte Cooks departure (again) hasn't blown up the forums on here..........

It has in the D&D Next discussion boards, this is 4e though, which he wasn't working on.

I will say with his departure I might give D&D Next another look, I was rather vocally upset on these forums when he came back on.

1. Most of the "exploding" here is in the D&D Next Forums, since that's the project where he was involved in the most
2. For those that did not, in any way, appreciate how his previous project with WotC was a game system that favored and encouraged power gaming as well as spellcasters, he will not be missed
3. For the general 4E crowd, he never was involved in 4E anyway -- at least last I checked -- so it's like "oh, ok" and moving on
4. [ Please insert here next point as to why there isn't much hubbub in the D&D 4E general section on Monte Cook going bye bye on his contract with WotC ]

Seriously, it's not like he's Gary Gygax or what not.

This is what I believe is the spirit of D&D 4E, and my deal breaker for D&D Next: equal opportunities, with distinct specializations, in areas where conflict happens the most often, without having to worry about heavy micromanagement or system mastery.

What I hope to be my most useful contributions to the D&D Community: DM Idea: Collaborative Mapping, Classless 4E (homebrew system, that hopefully helps in D&D Next development), Gamma World 7E random character generator (by yours truly), and the Concept of Perfect Imbalance (for D&D Next and other TRPGs in development)

Pre-3E D&D should be recognized for what they were: simulation wargames where people could tell stories with

They will call anyone who try to bring back "Spellcaster and othe sidekicks" game, a new Gary Gygax.

Yeah, D&D is off-topic for the Tavern.  I'll request this be moved in the VCL request thread.  Odds are it will be moved and then locked since they're locking every Monte thread except for one anyway, but it sure don't belong here.

Howdy folks,

Now that this thread is done playing musical chairs...er...forums...

It also happens to be a duplicate of other threads on the same topic so, we shall now close it.
