Whatever you pick, don't make it discreet. Make it strong and badass.... This is in my opinion the ultimate geek logo: (It can be modified in many ways, still be recognizable, still badass)

If you go with something original, my suggestion would be a stylized "D" made from a dragon (much like the end-it above) and have it and a mirror image linked together with whatever ampersand superimposed in the center. Because that probably is a bad description, here's a very rough quick and dirty mock up:  Hopefully that gives a vague idea--the Ds need to be a little more D-like, but not necessarily enough to be instantly recognizable as a D, and one should loop through the other. The ampersand needs something.
