I wonder what happens to some of the actions that where minor actions.

for acample minor retrieve a potion from a belt poch.

will this become a standard action.

or will there be one standard action to retrieve a potion from easy storage and drink it ?

This rule of three sounds good to me.

It sounds like they are simplifying the rules, and making it more clear that PCs are not limited to a small set of actions.

I think this could improve speed of battles.

More than likely.

They wrote that they want to "let players to do something significant each turn".

I believe that this translates to "Minor actions become free actions", but sometimes the blogs are a little difficult to decipher.

DISCLAIMER: I never played 4ed, so I may misunderstand some of the rules.

TBH, I've been dealing with it that way since 3E. Whatever the action type is to use the item is all it takes. The ridiculous amount of held item-juggling, and resulting action burn, necessary to actually use most consumables by RAW made doing so impractical or outright detrimental.

Either minor actions will exist in a hidden form as limited free actions, or minor actions will be hidden in other actions. The alternative is for druids to have to waste an entire round just to wild shape and other such nonsense.

I have played lots and lots and lots of different RPGs that only had Action + Move.  Never once has it wasted a character's entire turn to merely retrieve a potion from their belt pouch.

Out of curiosity, how many potions could you retrieve per round?

"So, This DM Empowerment thing..."
: Yeah?
"It's more of a DM education thing."
: Oh, that's big news then.

"We're really looking towards a simpler action economy."
: How Simple?
"Right now... Fire Emblem simple: you move and take an action."
: Now wait a cotton pickin' minute, you mean to tell me that all the complexity of D&D is held in jsut one action type?
"Remember, we're trying to make next simpler."
: Right, there is that.
"And combat faster."
: I suppose this would achieve that...
"Don't forget the lowered barrier to entry!"
: I get it!  I guess I can accept ultra-streamlined action economy.

For quaffing purposes, I've never seen anyone attempt more than one, so it has never been an issue in that regard.

For something like greek fire, I've seen bags stuffed with dozens thrown at the enemy to make a big fireball.

Is the the issue of how many potions can be retrieved per round something that crops up in your games?
