Is it going to regress to tolkien races and no more Dragonborn or Tiefling or other races? I'd hate that. I find being forced to play in human centric games boring.

They're having every class from every PHB1 in the first book. That suggests that, most likely, they'll have every race from every PHB1 there too, for the same reason. As for the issue of multiclassing, take a look at this post of mine on apprentice levels. It's something I think elegantly solves the issue, showing that it at least can be done. The basic idea is to remove the frontloading from classes by having the default starting level be the equivelant of level 4, so that if you start picking up a new class it's 4 levels before you have all their starting features.

From every PHB1? Or do you mean all the 4th ed PBH1 races basically? I love my Tieflings. :-)

If they actually do go that way, it'll be all the 4e PHB1 races, all the 3.x PHB1 races (so adding half-orc and gnome) and all the 1e and 2e PHB races (not sure if there are any that aren't already included)

Either way, it won't be long before these races are added if they're not in the core book...

Let's add that while they would *like* to include every class from every PHB1, it might not happen. A lot goes into the development of a game like D&D, and if they just can't fit the Warlord or the Assassin in, we may hanve to wait for a supplement.
That said, a PERFECT PHB1 would have all the races (which would include Dragonborn, Eladrin, Gnomes, Half-Orcs and Tieflings) and classes (Which would include the assassin, barabarian, monk, sorcerer, warlock, and warlord).
Also worth noting that just because a race isn't half-devil or dragon doesn't make it "boring".

I didn't say that did I? I said I find it boring to be forced into playing only normal races. Trying to say only humanlike races are adventurers in a world full of strange races doesnt jive with me at all. Not all the characters have to be weird but I at least like more options than Tolkein races.

You do realize that the "strange" races you're talking about, tieflings and dragonborn, existed prior to 4e yes?
For instance, tieflings have been a part of D&D as a PC race since 2e. But the tieflings that existed in 2e and 3e could be tainted by any variety of fiendish bloodline or influence, and they had a lot more diversity in their appearance than those in 4e which had a uniform origin and homogenous appearance. I really hope they go back to the tieflings of 2e and 3e (which would still allow you to play a 4e styled one).

Tieflings are half human, dragonborn are still humanlike. While I agree with your sentiment, the only non humanlike PC race DnD has ever has was really the Warforged, and that is only because they are living constructs, so it is kind of like playing an android.
