I am just starting to get burnt out on the constant updating of rules. I moved to Pathfinder because I had the complete set of 3.5 core rulebooks in which I still use today. Another core rule book set that costs 90 bucks and may only be up to date for about five years. They should have polished up 3.5 instead of going to 4e to begin with. This is my opinion and would like to hear others' opinion on this.

You're right about the money issue , indeed this time i will buy the new edition if and only if it satifies my taste in full!!
From what i have read there could be many interesting changes, but if these will justify a new switch is still to be proved, at least according to me.

If I buy $90 in core books and play every other week for 4 hours for five years the cost averages out to $5.78 for each hour of play. That doesn't include looking at or reading the books in between games. That is a huge amount of value to me.
All of that assumes that the game is one I want to play for five years. 4E was the first game I didn't want to play all the time (due to personal preference differences). Maybe D&D Next will go back to being my rpg of choice and I'll get my money's worth this time.
The other option is that an edition continues longer (which works for me as well). I'll likely still be buying books from the company if I like the edition. So either way I'm spending money and playing games with what I buy. Works for me.
