After last week’s big announcement, we’ve seen an explosion of discussion and speculation on what the next iteration of D&D will include. Were this any other game, I’d make a joke about the new version of the game having dinosaurs, but since D&D has dinosaurs (or behemoths), I’m at a bit of a loss. At the risk of contributing to the wild conjecture, I can in fact confirm here and now that elves will be in the game. Oh, I suppose you knew that. I guess you’ll have to wait until D&D Experience.
I do have some legitimate news: This week, we have a line-up of blogs from designers Bruce Cordell, Robert Schwalb, and Monte Cook. Watch for more in the future. Here’s what’s in store:

Holy and Radiant
By Bruce Cordell
Can holy damage and radiant damage exist in the same game? Find out what Bruce has to say on this topic, then weigh in with your own answer.

+1 or Better to Hit?
By Robert Schwalb
Damage reduction. Resistance. Magic items. Rob dives right into these systems and then asks for your input on whether you think some form of damage reduction and resistance should be in your game.

Mechanics Supporting Story
By Monte Cook
Game flavor and mechanics. How do they intersect? Take a look at what Monte has to say, then answer a poll so that we know what you think about mechanics supporting flavor.
D&D Next: Blogroll
Last week, I encouraged everyone to join the discussion here on the forums in Future Releases and on Twitter using the #dndnext hashtag. This week, I’d like to point out a few blogs that look at D&D’s past and turn an eye toward the future.
Where D&D is Heading; or, How the Internet Changed a Game
From OD&D to Playtesting New Editions... and Back Again
A New Edition of D&D Is Coming
Wizard’s Watch: The Quest for Grand Unified D&D?
It Slices, It Dices, It Possibly Does The THAC0
And of course, I can’t neglect Penny-Arcade’s perspective on the announcement.
A lot of other great blogs are out there—more than I could read in time for this post. If you want a full list, I recommend checking out Stormin’ Da Castle, where the author has provided a good round-up.
Thanks for your participation!
