Hey everyone,

I've been a fan of D&D for a long time, reading the novels and stuff, but never actually got to playing in a game. So I'm a noob when it comes to D&D!

I live  on the UofA campus, just by garneau, willing to meet whenever for games when I'm available, have a pretty large imagination and open to new stuff. Ideally I'd like to join a fresh game and get the hang of the game but I'd also be happy joining in an existing game.

I have access to almost all of the 4E books and have read through the main ones

Wow this board is on fire (in respect to normal amount of posts) we have five i say again FIVE people that have posted on here in 2012...myself, sfgiants, kerok, crossedx and jillik, plus apparantly we have someone willing to dm...we NEED to get this set up. so when is everyone available for coffee, so we can figure this out. my availability in the next week is: today monday tuesday, wednesday evening, thursday evening, friday morning, saturday morn, sunday mornin, then the next five days...

I'm pumped guys! Looks like we can get something going.
My availability is always pretty flexible and I can do most days/times, BUT I am currently in finals so until the 26th it might not be the best time. After that, i'm free whenever!

finals thing is fine, im currently covering off another guy at a site, so im on shift work till the end of the month, i just posted those times for a coffee meet'n'greet, once we meet we can go over what the best days are whether weekly bi weely ect. ect.

Yeah a couple of weeks prior to starting would be fine. Meeting up in the meantime would be a good idea. Next Sunday might work for me otherwise I will need to check my schedule.

Sunday works for me if it works for others, but it'd have to be the afternoon i got a night shift at 4:30 on sunday so if 1:00 works for everyone else that's be perfect

ataboy sfgiants :P, Also jillik seems to have died on us, kerok still is alivee though he checks this a little less often though, but the four of us(sf, cros, ker, myeself), are all in the west...ish...i dont think we could get any better luck.

Anyway dont know where any coffee places (or similar venue) are around the west end though as i am originally a fort saskatchewanian. So I will leave that up to you guys, I live at 122nd ave and 129th street, i know kerok is NW not sure streets just NW. Crossed is campus, and sf is west...so west central? possibly west ed...dunno.

I actually know where Westmount is and how to get there easily, so that works perfectly for me. Tim Hortons at Westmount it is. (if that works for Ian)

just went into all my old boxes, it would seem that all my previous books have been either misplaced or my old group has em. I was able to find dm 3.0 3.0 phb and the quintessential paladin. sucks cause i used to have the f realms campaign book 3.5 phb dm and mm, plus arms and equipment guide ill keep lookin but hopefully garth has some of the books still. 

Sorry I missed the coffee meet and greet thing yesterday I was at work all weekend and just got back late last night.
I could be part of the group, but only as a part time player. With my job I'm on call 24/7 so you can imagine how it's hard to commit to regular sessions. There is another person I could ask if he'd be interested as well though. I have a bunch of 3.5 books and a ton of 4E books.

lol is the player from your old group me, lol cause my name is ian and im the same guy that was talkin to you on the other thread? OH also max whats parking like at your place? if its really difficult to park there then we may have to use mine and ill just come pick you up when we get together for a game.

lol I'm pretty sure it's somebody different. If we have two ians it wont be as bad as my last group. we had two derek's and two jason's in the group.

ok 3.5 and sunday may 13 is first session.  What type of character(s) is everyone playing?
I'm ok with playing almost any type of character but keep in mind that I wont be able to make it to every session. I'm ok with  working something out with you guys to either have another player play my character or let the DM run him when I can't make it. 
Also, is anything printed for 3.5 allowed or are there any restrictions? (I'll probably either pick something from the PHB or the Psionics handbook).

Garth just checked his schedule and realized that the 13th won't work so sorry about the previous post, but we're looking at 18th-19th now. Will update as stuff is more concrete! Last I know Ian was thinking of Scout and I was thinking Monk, Sorcerer or Druid depending on what's needed (although really I'll go with whatever)

You can be whatever you want, personally I hate the typical fighter mage rogue cleric 4 man grp. its alot more fun when its random. plus if the group has a weakness (such as no cleric) it makes strategy a hell of alot more important and my character will be a scout (eventually a scout/dervish) also points-light-fr.wikispaces.com/ thats the campaign nicely made by garth. also would you (derek...i think thats what your name is lol) wanna meet up for another coffee its nice to put faces to names max and garth are invited as well

I would like that sometime. I should have some time off this weekend prob sat night or sun would work best but I wont be able to confirm till friday night. If this weekend is no good I don't have any set days off so just shoot me a txt (780) 935-9537 or msg me here and I'll try and get back to you right away.

As far as characters go I think I'll end up going with a Ranger (I've always liked that class). How are the ability scores being generated?  
I've also liked random group configurations as well hence why I like playing characers that will add more to the adventure side as opposed to just being useful in combat.

ability scores are rolled, i imagine 4d6, but we'll figure that out on game day, takes 5 minutes to finish a char if all you got left is ab scores. This weekend could work i work both sat and sun but im off at 4:30 on sunday and then got two days off, so sunday would work best

I'm new to DnD and would like to join a new game or join. Not sure if I can join an in progress session.

I am looking to join or start a regular game, preferably on the west side of Edmonton or in the Spruce Grove/Alberta Beach area.  Myself and a couple other guys have a casual game out here right now but would enjoy having a few more folks around the table.  I am happy to DM or to join a group as a player.
