Hi there,
Are there plans to create stat cards, etc. for the existing (now defunct) D&D miniatures line, or will this game be restricted to the new releases?
Thanks! -JS

Kinda much?
Is this supposed to mean something?
If this was covered elsewhere, I have evidently missed it.

As far as I know, there is no definitive plan to restat old miniatures to be compatible with the new game.
Given that, I suspect that any restat effort is going to be subject to the new game's somewhat coarser pricing structure. The difference between a 37 point beater and a 42 point beater is small, but significant enough to cost. Can you support a huge variety between 3 and 4 gold? Hard to say at this point, although you can probably do it with some combination of figure stats and specific action cards.

Don't you feel that expecting them to update over 1300 sculpts to an entirely new system is kinda asking too much?

Or they could just say, does your Drow mini look like a House Guard? Then you can use him as a House Guard, just make sure everyone knows which minis are which. The way the new guys' stats are so simple, there'd never be the kind of variety they used to have unless some types have different sculpts.

Given the talent out there among the board game, card game and strategy game players, I'm sure someone will come up with custom cards for Any mini they want that is compatible with this game. I've seen some great fan-made cards for DDM, Heroscape, Magic and others out there. Some websites have downloadable templates for just about any shape of card there is.
I also can forsee a set of "Epic" stat cards coming out that have higher Gold costs and more powerful abilities. For Epic games, one could up the starting Gold limit to make it possible to activate more powerful creatures.
However, this should be undertaken with caution to avoid the "power creep" that seems to affect almost every game of this type as time goes on. By that I mean that after a while, nobody wants to play the least powerful creatures and they collect dust. Meanwhile, designers and players are pushing for ever more powerful creatures like an 'arms race' to come up with something that is the most powerful in the game.
I think they are trying to keep the numbers low on purpose to make the math quick and easy so that casual gamers will play the game.

You'll know the power creep has officially kicked in when they make a stat card for Orcus.

Well sure, and I certainly wasn't expecting such a thing to be done all at once. Just wondering if anyone had floated the idea.

As someone who owns a s-load of the old miniatures and loves them like hundreds of little children, I would still support NOT re-statting them and starting this new game with a blank slate. It puts everyone on a level playing field again, and allows for time to work out the rules with a limited set instead of throwing hundreds of variants into the mix.
As others have said, there's nothing that stops anyone from going to town with customizations.
