I have been gaming since I was six and my older brother brought home the box set. I played an elf (class and race-1st ed here
). Granted there was a five year gap, and then I managed to find others to game with again. I've been gaming steadily since, and Dice RPGS will always be my first love.
I'm now married, my husband plays and runs, and we have a healthy sized group we both play and run with.
Over the years I've tried a large sampling of a variety of other systems out there, but D&D was, and will always be, my first.
Why did it take me so long to join up?
4th. I hates it.
I miss my customization. I miss the sheer variety of toys to play with.
We have a good group, that operates largely on a "DM wins, so play nice" honor system. We let a lot of things slide for flavour and alter rules to fit more cinematic and dramatic play. Our plots are almost always "save the world" because I've learned that noone really likes playing a nobody from nowhere who does nothing. Anyone who claims they do is a DM who doesn't play and feels intimidated by his players.
We're playing a hybrid 3.5 game now, with some rules taken from other compatibles to allow more flexibility while slimming down the bloat. I won't specifiy here, because well.. it's not courteous to talk about another company's product on a company site.
I love Ed, and FR, and if I had the guts I'd send a letter and say: You are one of the most wonderful, amazing and (believe it or not) influential people of my generation. Never underestimate what you have done for so many.
*I have a personal reason for that-but I don`t air dirty laundry online.
So I finally decide to sign up, because 5th shows promise. If it turns out to be another 4th, I will be gone so fast this page will be retconned into history, and I do apologize, but I`m fickle like that.
I miss my D&D.
