Like the half-elves, the half-orcs are the product of a mad samsaran who, back in the Immortal Age, sought to improve upon the created races by merging two of them. A race unto their own, they can neither breed with humans or orcs. The uruk, as they describe themselves, possess no inherent hatred of samsarans like the orcs do (a success on the part of the mad samaran that long ago created the race).
Physical Description: Bred for combat, uruk average around 6 feet tall, with powerful builds and greenish or grayish skin. Their canine teeth often grow long enough to protrude from their mouths, and these "tusks," combined with heavy brows and slightly pointed ears, give them their notoriously bestial appearance. While half-orcs may be impressive, few outside their race ever describe them as beautiful. Society: The uruk of the Free Cities Peninsula live mostly in Chersky and it's outlying colonies. They are generally fast breeding, industrious, and militaristic. Their disposition is almost as varied as humans, but with a stronger bent towards a warrior culture, hard work, aggression, and discipline. Relations: The uruk of Chersky are not part of the Free Cities Defense Compact - nor do they need to be, as their military is nearly as big on its own. As an unaffiliated economic and military powerhouse, most others view the uruk as volatile at best. They share a strong relationship with the dwarves in whom they see common (albeit more paced) industrious trait. (Their near-constant demand for the dwarves' adamantine and mithral also helps.) They're relationship with the elves is tense and quickly escalating as their ravenous appetite for resources consumes the land near the border of Shinael. Adventurers: Many uruk take to the wilderness as adventurers, seeking glory, fortune, and honor through combat. |
