This chamber is bare of any decoration except a magical circle in the floor. Three sets of doors provide entry further into the tower; two are single doors, and the central one is a double door.
Before descending into the pit, the Defenders of the Wastes use psionics to scrye from a the top that there are statues surrounding the pile of bones at the bottom. Thoril Grok is then lowered using ropes to hang just above the floor and one by one swings to each and disable them. After all the group are lowered they pass through a mage's laboratory and proceed to a stair case and travel yet deeper into the tower. In this lowest level of the vault the group finds thri-kreen surrounding the blood jewel. Trying to prevent a vicious battle for the already weary heroes, Xav parlays with the kreen and convinces them the heroes do not want a fight and just want the jewel. After some tense moments, the kreen leave the room apparently convinced by the heroes and allowing them the jewel, but stay in a chamber outside it. Little did the party know, but the kreen desired greatly that the group attempt to obtain the jewel. The mantis-men are not disappointed. The group triggers a glyph of warding - twice - greatly diminishing their groups ability to fend off foes, the thri-kreen, who attack while they are weakened. Despite numerous thri-kreen teleporting into the chamber from elsewhere in Slither, the Defenders are victorious (in part with great feats from Thoril Grok's mantis and fist techniques). They obtain the blood jewel and escape into the desert as stealthily as they had arrived. ![]() The Defenders of the Wastes have yet again prevented a great evil from being unleashed, and further harried the defiler Yarnath. With this second interference of Yarnath's plans, the evil mage's rage is increased a hundred fold and can only likely be abated with revenge against these great heroes of Athas. |
