Orcus is up, just where you'd think it would be.
www.ddmguild.com
You can download the somber gray scenario now.
He's been done for a while, been through various playtesting. Trying to soften him up a bit. A lot of heroes will die trying to kill him, that's certain. He's no namby pamby.
He's tough.
And he's got a wand.
And he'll be here, this weekend.
Hmmm. Well, I've dug down through our current mountain of projects, into the Orcus designs, and we are gearing up to try to playtest just a bit more.
We don't have a dedicated map to realease for Orcus- though Dungeon of Blood really fits both the theme and the design. Temple of the Unseeing is a great second choice.
The thinking behind the current Orcus scenario is to make it a bit flexible, so that you can play against the Prince of Undeath many different ways, though always aiming to take him down.
But, since most of the minis gamers...
I really am terrible at blogging, but its time to put another one out there, this time in response to the most recent discussion of the end of the minis line. What the infamous ampersand article referred to was the end of the random DDM packaging.
To be honest, we weren't actually expecting a new random set this year anyway (though a beholder-like set is expected). We are, in fact, planning on releasing new ways to use existing miniatures. There's lots of work to do catching up on the Iconic sets, (aside from the already released icing death scenario,...
Hi everyone.
Been thinking a little about this season's 'limited championship.' Ok, I've been thinking a lot about it.
We have a great new set, Lords of Madness, coming out in just a couple weeks. Its a huge set. While this fits nicely with some cool new scenario-type products we are developing, it does create some interesting considerations as well.
For example, we've never used a huge set for a championship before. While we tried to have an epic championship at one time in the distant past, it's tough to do. The Epic tourney at GenCon was our largest in some time. Epic is a...
Well, GenCon 2010 has come and gone, leaving me one very tired Guild Director. We ran the constructed championship and crowned a new world champ in classic style: The finals saw, for the first time ever, the previous year's champion defending his title. In the end, Joel Broveleit of Sioux Falls, South Dakota got the rolls he needed to topple 2009 champion Shayne Lindeman of Atlanta, Georgia. There was outstanding prize support for the champs due to sponsorship by Wizards, Gale Force 9 and Dapper Devil.
We also revealed two new maps - both small maps perfect for RPG encounters. ...
So, I'm terrible at blogging, but here goes.
DDM events factsheets are posted up now at www.ddmguild.com
I'm personally looking forward not only to the tournament, but also to the fun events associated with league and the community draft.
I had hoped to have two new maps for GenCon, but the truth is, we'll only have 2.
The third will come somewhat after because, no matter how well it played, I'm really not happy with the art. And we want to have maps that will be fun, first and foremost.
Strategically interesting is second, and an important third is: Does this fill a new niche, and...
