I am enjoying beta testing the new D&D Skirmish Type Board Game. It's a fun twist on DDM. I think Kevin Tatroe did a great job designing this game. Props to him for getting WOTC to get back into minis strategy games again!

The Clark County DDM Guild chapter ran a successful Lords of Madness Sealed Pack Tournament at Little Shop of Magic in Las Vegas last Sunday. We had two players who really competed hard for the grand prize! It was a re-painted rare Lords of Madness mini of their choice from the ones I had already and a DDMGuild stat card for that mini printed on cardstock and placed in a high-quality card sleeve along with the original card for the mini. The store owner was kind enough to donate several loose minis as prizes as well. He has also invited me to run DDM games at the store any time I want to. I will try to run another event there before NeonCon. Best of all, both players are planning on attending NeonCon and the Limited Tournament! I'm also planning a tournament for November 20th at Avatar Comics. It will be after NeonCon but it was the best day for them. This store seems to cater towards miniatures enthusiasts and strategy gamers even more than Little Shop of Magic does, so I think I'll get even more players at this next event.

I'm looking forward to the Limited Championship at NeonCon! Playing the Assault variant with Huge sized minis will be a blast! Tomorrow, we're running a somewhat similar tournament at Little Shop of Magic in Las Vegas to celebrated the launch of the Lords of Madness minis set. Going to be giving away some hand-painted, by yours truly, Lords of Madness minis (complete with the DDMGuild stat cards and promo card for each one)as prizes. Will also give away my Temple of the Unseeing map as a prize (I'm going to order another one soon.) I'll also be letting everyone who plays or stops by the tables know about the Limited Championships at NeonCon in November and will encourage them to join DDMGuild as well. Should be a fun time!

Any correctly sized base works - it doesn't have to have text - it just can't have 'conflicting' text. Make sense?

Okay, so where does one get replacement bases for the HS minis to make them compatible with DDM? If I have the D&D Mini that corrisponds with the HS mini, why would I want to cut the base off the D&D mini and put it on the HS mini unless the D&D mini was otherwise ruined somehow? I've seen some bases in stores that people use to put their metal minis on. These seem to be the same size as the ones on the D&D minis. But that still doesn't address the text on the bottom of the base.

These are all very cool comments. The Heroscape bases don't work well for competitive play, particularly when you have many figures grouped around a chokepoint. But we wanted to propose a solution for now while we consider other options. Remember that in a fun game, you don't need to rebase your minis, so go ahead and play as is. (though I would still definitely put the larges at least on top of a black cardboard cutout to show which squares they actually occupy). Rebasing is really only necessary for the official DCI sanctioned games. Cheers! dGS
