A great Lair Assault was played at the Dice House.

Our team theme was NFL, but it did not have much impact on the game--we have funny football team names or players, but the beat down was so fast and furious on this one that there was not much time for roll play.

DM Coop was once again behind the screen for this Lair Assault. He had played it before and was fairly comfident the entire time--he knew we had no chance...

Chase and Thomas were both there--and they even dressed the same! CUTE!

Kevin joined us at the table--he had run this before and was likely the only reason we survived the second round. It was fun having a new player at the table.

Brian was also in this week--playing a charging Goliath he brought a lot of damage to the table--and a ton of wildly innapropriate mom jokes.

This was week zero of D&D Encounters--so rather then doing community character building face to face the shop coordinator ran Lair Assault Three. Dungeon Master dot Com had a great write up of the event a while back, but this was my first chance to play.

We started with Chipotle & a quick stop for Candy & Coffee--I have actually given up candy & cheese for Lent, so this was not as great as one would hope--but Brian, T-Hamas, Scott, Jack and I did have a very good pre game.

The shop was still very crowded with people building their first level characters for D&D Encounters--several return players like Tiffany and Brian & Sydney were there as well as lots of returning players--one of the guys is bringing his nephew who is Jacks age--that will be awesome.

This may be one of the greatest ...

a group of guys from my Encounters group headed over to John's house where DM Jace ran the second Lair Assault for us--I have a video actual play podcast up.

Scott and Curtis were there. Our Team Design plan was Genasi Disco Healers--Scott ignored this & had a Human Psion. Curtis had a Earth Genasi Warlord.

Chase & Washington Dave were there. Chase built both of their characters--a fighter & a ranged striker. Chase also leveled up his encounters character Mal, a human rogue for Thomas.

This party composition was medium--clearly we can do better--not enough movement killed us on our first attempt as is obvious by the Actual Play Video--we got bogged down early and never really had a chance.

I had plenty of space to run Hechtoo-O, the Water Genasi Swordmage Ardent. A great character...

Second attempt at Lair Assault. Second TPK! This thing is really really hard, but tons of fun!

Me, Jack, Scott, Jace, & Jacob set up in John's Backyard after Encounters this Wednesday.

The main table inside was being used for Pathfinder--so we had to play outside in the dark. It was completely awesome! The game went fairly late--but Jack still made it to school the next day.

Here is the map that we currently have

A.
A room with Two Brutes--this time a Hell Hound and a Champion. The large oil pits catch on fire with hell hound breath. It is really important to win initiative so you are not stuck on the start platform when the Blast 3 hits.

B.
There is a trap & a fire elemental in this room. The Fire Elemental does 10 ongoing fire, save ends. The door on the East Wall is a fake

This was Awesome! Crushed. Badly. In six rounds. It was not even close.

I played at So Cal Smack Down, which [by the way] got good press for their Casino Night Charity event which Scott's Wife Rita Won! Congratulations Rita!

In any event, I wanted to review what happened to our team & invite any advice on how to do better next week.

Here is the map that I drew from memory, which I plan to be updating in the coming weeks.

Our Party consisted of Jace [Assasin], Wes [Halfling Theif], Curtis [Thri-Kren Warlord], and me [Thri-Kren Avenger]. I did not get all the critical information on the characters--we were hurrying to get started & it was the end of a very long day.

And to be honest, I did not expect us to get owned as badly as we did.

I was the weekest link at this table
