EPILOGUE TO THE NORLYTHE
Since Ulthoroch had made it clear that they had some time before they were needed in Motta, the party split ways for a few weeks to wrap up loose ends in the Norlythe. Sadhai, Kloric, Evran, Clarkson, and Arabella went to Terratorumme. Sadhai visited his parent’s graves on the way there. Clarkson helped him barter a good price for a caravel, he and his daughter having agreed to continue traveling with them for protection and income. Evran and Kloric snuck around the city perpetuating the nefarious reputations of the Scarab Witch and Tethaylaer with magic and clever use of disguise.
Nirvani, meanwhile, visited the Yollotli enclave, as well as Lirandi. She placed the giant baby in the orphanage, and sought advice from her mentors there. Afterwards, she flew to Maricualatan, and met with Xoco. Xoco had disturbing news. After the group had left, strange men in wicked armor had appeared throughout the city, searching for Arhuzimel by name. Hunters of the Eitharmos. Nirvani worried, but had no way of tracking the shade to warn him or give aid. She enlisted Fastus to help her dig deeper into the story of the Colfán murders. Although she was able to resurrect several of the victims and reunite them with an orphaned teenage survivor, the family had no further clues. The victims had been visiting loved ones in the graveyard when they were killed by ghouls, and never saw a colonial there. It seemed that Dremsdane Manning’s claim of innocence could not be proven or disproven.
Arhuzimel’s mysterious disappearance after the party was due to his meeting the mysterious Culathra, a beautiful woman with surprisingly extensive knowledge of his life and experiences. She warned him that his life was in danger, and helped him and Halendir escape from the Eitharmos hunters. They traveled together for a time, and Arhuzimel learned that she was a daemon assassin, part of an organization known as the Twilight Apostates. She had learned in vision long ago that he was a person of importance, and had been watching him covertly ever since. She had business to resolve in the Norlythe before taking Arhuzimel to the Apostates in Motta.
Culathra led him to the necropolis Guhrich, where she delivered a message to an Apostate courier. While there, they witnessed Mirreloch the jhareth rogue aid a vampire lord in raising a wraith army from the tombs of the necropolis. Nirvani, Sadhai, Kloric, and the others came out of the Chorrom's tomb just in time to see the army rise. Arhuzimel and Culathra then witnessed Ulthoroch's visitation to Nirvani, but since neither spoke the Hallowed Tongue they only caught the mention of Arhuzimel's name.
Overhearing Sadhai make plans to purchase a ship and sail to Motta, the shade convinced Culathra that travelling with his former companions would save them a great deal of time, and they followed them to Terratorumme, where the party rejoined. They sailed south on Sadhai’s new ship, the Bone Dragon, along the rivers to Maricualatan, and picked up Fastus and Nirvani. Reunited, the group traveled down the rivers to Athelshoth near the Waelslayg Desert, where Kloric could check in with his people before heading to Motta.
