Wrath - 8 C (Phyrexia)

This area is the site of an ancient battle between two planeswalkers. It concluded with a magically summoned meteor crashing into the plains, the blast destroying everything for hundreds of miles. The blast ripped apart the ground, and sent magically infused fragments into the sky. Today these fragments form asteroids, floating magical islands, which orbit in the sky.

As one approaches the square, all one sees for miles is a salt flat, sloping up or down in some sections, but more or less, a desolate plains. The air here is unnaturally thin, as if a vacuum in the aether were syphoning it away, almost too thin to support flight. Indeed, it's very trying to fly here by mechanical means of any sort, biological or artificial, and any prolonged flight is sure to result in fatigue, if not outright crashing. Indeed, it is usually best to travel on foot.

Towards the center of the square the salt flats slope into a broad, gradually steepening valley; this is the impact site, some 50 miles in diameter, 2 miles deep. Within it a mystic swirl of salt and dust breezes, obscuring most everything within it in a haze. Everything that enters this valley begins to encounter a strange type of interference, almost like a mana overload. Most creatures dare not descend further, fearing the effects. But those that do descend, experience a continual barrage of mystic energy, which over time fatigues even the strongest, slowing them down and sapping their energy to the point of total inaction and stasis. Only white creatures are afforded some immunity here, as the mystic energy is of white origin, but even they must not linger beyond a day or so, or they too will encounter similar effects.

A strange, faint beam of light emanates from the exact center of the crator impact and heads upward into space. High and low above the crator, the magical islands swirl in eliptical orbit around the central beam. These are generally only a few hundred meters in length, though some are several miles across. There is about a hundred islands in total. The islands are generally used as stepping stones by those stationed here, traveling from the lower ones to the higher ones. To do otherwise is to fly in the exceptionally thin air and risk the inevitable falling. Compounding this are many micro-asteroids, thousands of them, that zoom around like runaway boulders and speeding bolas. Anyone who does not take care and take some cover, at least underfoot, is sure to be hit by one of these. So extended flying and wing-exposure in this area is strictly discouraged. The islands stagger upward toward the stratosphere, there at the point where flight and life is barely sustainable, rests white base, the Coalition's foothold in Phyrexia, codename Wrath. The main fortress structure rests on a large, 10 mile long, by 5 mile wide island that harnesses the ambiant and beam energy coming from the crater. The energy is used to infuse the island and the main base structure, strengthening it to indestructible proportions. The energy can likewise be used to strengthen any nearby inanimate object. The white energy is also used in small doses to re-energize any inhabitants directly, in lue of food, as there is none in the area. It cannot be used to make anyone stronger or indestructible though, not without killing them. Otherwise the main structure is a typical fortress, with many rooms, barracks, arms, provisions, three levels, walls, rampants, and so on. From the base, a force bubble is projected around the entire main island, but this is only to trap warmth and air, making the area habitable, and does not repel against anything stronger. The weather beyond the bubble, throughout the salt flats and throughout the air is ice cold, and it only gets colder at night, with overnight sub-zero "snowfall" quite common. These snowfalls are more likely to be made of settling, fine dust and salt though, then they are to be made of ice and snow.
