Vodalis - 22 D
The voyage between Jamuraa and Shiv has remained a perilous route for years, although over time the dangers have evolved. The sparse atolls where bandits and pirates once patrolled are now overrun by predatory beasts released from Phyrexia. As such, it is still safer for merchant vessels to cross the wide open sea along the growing trade route. In the middle of the vast openness remains a tiny reef island, hardly a mile in diameter. Its small natural harbour has since been expanded into a full port settlement known as Samudra – complete with dry docks and ship building facilities. Large stocks of timber are kept on hand for the maintenance of passing craft. In addition, the small trading post of the merfolk stands still. This is where they rise from the sea to present their goods, make exchanges, and replenish friendly travelling vessels. The merfolk’s home, Vodalis, lies off the island beneath the sea. It can be found half a mile below the waves and two miles from the reef island. The only way to the city is to travel underwater, thus few non-merfolk have ever seen it. The city itself consists of an expansive castle made of crystalline-compound with many spires, towers, gates, and halls. The crystal is said to be very beautiful, and unimaginably strong – similar to diamond. It is imbued with magical properties, emanating a soothing energy which eliminates the need to eat, breathe, or sleep in the surrounding tranquil waters. The entire area is prized by all merfolk, and trade underwater trade with Vodalis is frequent and prosperous. As such, those who control Vodalis can easily replenish many travellers above or below the waves; as if gifted by the lifespring of Dominaria itself. ---------------------------------------- Allows for healing over two days for armies below third rank.
