I've gotten the Player's Handbook, ordered the Monster Manual, and found a group of friends to play with.  The next two things for me to focus on achieveing are the purchase of the Dungeon Master's Guide and the Diplomacy Check I must overcome to be able to play a Dragonborn.

All members of our group are noobs to DnD except for one, and he refuses to let me play a Dragonborn.  "They're the most broken race," he tells me.  "You'll be running around killing everything while the rest of us will just be sitting back, watching."

I read up more on Dragonborns.  They don't seem so broken to me.

"Well, if the rest of us start off at Level 5, and you at Level 1, you can play a Dragonborn."

This doesn't seem right.  Dragonborns may be cute, (yes, I said it) but they're

So I'm new to DnD, and I've been soloing like crazy using the red Starter Set.  All I need now is a group to play with, along with the DM book and Monster Manual, since I've already gotten the Player's Handbook, and I can actually start playing in a more legit fashion.

Still, I'm such a nooblet!  I play many RPGs and tactical video games but for some reason I can't get into a similar mindset while playing DnD.  I guess I just need more practice.  Or something's just odd about me.  Yeah, it could be that.
