Four years after the end of the Last War, distinguished artificer Arten d'Cannith has settled among the soaring towers of the city of Sharn. When the leaders of the fragmented House Cannith declare him to be little better than a common criminal, however, Arten vanishes mysteriously, leaving a cryptic trail for his apprentice and their friends. From the highest towers to the depths far below even the cogs, these reluctant adventurers must chase Arten's trail and resolve the mysteries he has left in his wake.
