When we get to 1st Edition, I will likely let the players vote on what ability score generation method to use as there are several presented in the Dungeon Master's Guide.
For this adventure, however, I wanted to preserve the "old school" feel of BECMI with straight 3d6 down the line. In my home campaigns, I'm a little more generous, often allowing players to arrange their rolls for the class they want.

Could someone explain how attacking and AC work in this version? I'm pretty sure I know but I would like to be sure.
Also are there any rules for charging?

Charging rules: No.
Your chance to hit is determined by your level (for PCs) or your Hit Dice (for monsters). So, at each level or Hit Die, you have to roll a certain number on d20 to hit a certain AC. Using AC 0 as a reference, a Fighter, for example...
Levels 1 -3 needs a 19 to hit AC 0 Levels 4-6 needs a 17 to hit AC 0 Levels 7-9 needs a 15 to hit AC 0.
There are charts that give you all these numbers in the books (using the Rules Cyclopedia for reference here as the Red Box only goes up to level 3).
Our tentacled critter, a Carrion Crawler, needs a 16 to hit AC 0, a 15 to hit AC 1, etc.

Scottevil912, no rush, but the sooner we get those saving throws, the sooner everyone else can jump in to the combat. :D

Just a note, when posting combat actions, go ahead and roll your damage dice along with the attack. If it hits, you save time having to roll and post damage, if it misses you can just ignore the damage roll.
Thanks.

LordManshoon, Xerxes13, and Josha, as soon as you guys get a post in, we'll advance the combat.
If you don't get a post in by next Wednesday, we'll temporarily NPC your characters and move on. Josha, this is week two without a post. Next week, if you haven't gotten a post in, I'll have to write out your character. You'll still be welcome to participate in the OOC discussion, however.

Mboss77, each saving throw is a separate roll in which you need to get the number listed for the save on your character sheet or higher.
So, with a 4 and a 19, you failed the first and passed the second. Which means Gregor will end up paralyzed at the end of the round.

Click below for a better visual of where the party is. Note that clicking here also gives some spoilers to the interior of the castle in terms of layout of rooms and such. The party is currently at the fallen doors shown on the map as Area 1. Spoiler:
