Mboss77, each saving throw is a separate roll in which you need to get the number listed for the save on your character sheet or higher.

So, with a 4 and a 19, you failed the first and passed the second.  Which means Gregor will end up paralyzed at the end of the round.

Yeah, I got that I just didn't communicate it well in my post. Re-edited it for clarity. Thanks Monkey!

Indeed, Xerxes, hope you are feeling better.

Which reminds me, if anyone is going to be away for any amount of time, just let me know.  The usual posting guidelines won't apply if you give us advance notice.

Sorry I haven't really made a move yet. I am trying to think of how Baros can contribute, but there are essentially two problems - he's not built to use that dagger to any great effect, and Sleep targets living creatures, so whoever is next to the carrion crawler is going to be taking a nap, too.

We're using standard edition war rules.  No posts of substance.  Do not read the other person's posts with comprehension.  Make frequent comparison to video games, MMOs, and CCGs.  Use the words "fallacy" and "straw man", incorrectly and often.  Passive aggressiveness gets you extra points and asking misleading and inflammatory questions is mandatory.  If you're getting tired, just declare victory and leave the thread.  Wait for the buzzer... and....

One, two, three, four, I declare Edition War
Five, six, seven eight, I use the web to

D&D should not return to the days of blindfolding the DM and players. No tips on encounter power? No mention of expected party roles? Just a quick note on the MMORPG as an insult comparison...

MMORPGs, raking in money by the dumptruck full.  Many options, tons of fans across many audiences, massive resources allocated to development.

TTRPGs, dying product.  Squeaking out an existence that relys on low cost.  Fans fit primarily into a few small demographics.  R&D budgets small, often rushed to market and patched after deployment.

You're not really making much of an argument when you compare something to a MMORPG and assume people think that means bad.  Lets face it, they make the money, have the audience and the budget.  We here on this board are fans of TTRPGs but lets not try to pretend none of us play MMORPGs.

Telling someone to move over a few feet is magical now? :|

I weep for this generation.

Given the laziness and morbid obsesity amongst D&Ders, being able to convince someone to get on their feet, do some heavy exercise, and use their words to make them be healthier must seem magical.

In cases like these, you can simply state that your character is hanging back.  You could also drag paralyzed characters out of the way, keep an eye out for other enemies, et.

Full IC post coming from me tomorrow.  Josha, this is your last chance to get a post in.  If we haven't seen you before then, your character will be written out of the game.

Josha, you are welcome to join us in OOC discussion and you can put your name in the hat for future stops on the tour.

The encounter with the carrion crawler in this adventure is something of a practice combat.  You'll notice the creature doesn't actually do any damage and the paralysis does eventually wear off (though your characters don't know that ).  So, while there is an element of danger and the unknown, the player characters aren't going to suffer any long term effects (unless they all get paralyzed and the carrion crawler eats them).

Thanks for all the well wishes. I am feeling better, though still have an annoying cough that won't seem to go away.

Anyway, back to some D&D.

Are there rules for flanking and/or attacks of oppurtunity?

Are there other tactical rules I should know about?

There are no rules for flanking or attacks of opportunity.

Depending on what you mean by tactical rules, there aren't rules for that either, but tactics can be utilized, of course.
