Theros Equipment

What sorts of new equipment cards is everyone expecting to see in Theros?
Trident? Javalin? Crested Helm? Xena warrior princess/predator throwing ring?

What could fit in as a reprint?

Xena warrior princess/predator throwing ring?

It's called a chakram.

/The more you know
I would love to see a girdle of femininity, and a magic conch.
Would love to see some good shields.
Maybe some flying shoes.
Or maybe a flying chariot?
Beware !!!! There are Zombies even in Spaces !!!
I'm going to laugh really hard if next week at comicon it's revealed the set had nothing to do with any Greek inspiration and instead outta something like "no it's named after Icelandic rock group sigur ros, it's an Icelandic music themed set", the ros".
Or maybe a flying chariot?

So a reprint then?

@mikemearls The office is basically empty this week, which opens up all sorts of possibilities for low shenanigans

@mikemearls In essence, all those arguments I lost are being unlost. Won, if you will. We're doing it MY way, baby.

@biotech66 aren't you the boss anyway? isn't "DO IT OR I FIRE YOU!" still an option?

@mikemearls I think Perkins would throat punch me if I ever tried that. And I'd give him a glowing quarterly review for it.

I would love to see a girdle of femininity, and a magic conch.

I don't know if we're referencing the same thing, but I want to equip my creatures with Golden Pantaloons.
Bro, do you even Autocard? Here's how!

I don't know if the'll be a major equipment theme, maybe a couple of legendaries, which I won't guess at. But I do think we'll see a gladius at common.
gladius is roman, not greek.  I think the greek short sword is called a spatha.
rstnme: "Everything looks good when your opponent passes 4 turns in a row."
Basilisk Collar would be a cool reprint.
Cobbled Wings a la Icarus.
Hammer of Ruin (if we're going to have a lot of equipment, we may as well have some equipment removal equipment)
Worldslayer because I think it's just a cool card.

...and Razor Boomerang for the lulz.
Why is everyone focusing on greek?

The design code names were
Friends
Romans
Countrymen
Why is everyone focusing on greek? The design code names were Friends Romans Countrymen

Irrelevant. The code name has nothing to do with the set's theme. I remember when everyone was calling "undersea/seafaring block" for Hook Line Sinker. It was Return to Ravnica block.

"Theros" and "Nyx" are greek words ("summer" and "night"). Dack Fayden's image looks greek, not roman. Every real information we have points to greek flavour more than roman.

[<o>]
When I heard hook line sinker I was thinking in more of the figure of speech.

Also, hadn't heard that Theros and Nyx were Greek words, definitly puts things into a different light.

They all are. They are known three-word sets with a known order, that you can use to talk about a future set to players and retail sellers without spoilering the set's actual name and theme. It's not a hint, it's the opposite of that, a necessary neutral alias for when you don't want to reveal the set yet.

Some examples: Bacon Lettuce Tomato (Mirrodin block). Earth Wind Fire (Kamigawa block). Beijing, Hong Kong, Shangai (Invasion block). Control Alt Delete (Ravnica block). Rock Paper Scissors (Alara block). Live Long Prosper (Zendikar block). Huey Dewey Louie (future block that will most likely not be set anywhere near Disney World!).

You also don't use capitalization. Punctation sometimes but almost never capital letters. And why are you submitting a sorcery card in a topic about Equipment in FC&SS? I don't like being one of those guys, but that's for YMtC.

Equipment based on Greek myth definitely seems like a possbility, just like how Innistrad's equipment featured a lot of horror staples such as Wooden Stakes, silver weapons for killing werewolves, and various makeshift weapons a Human might use in case of, say, a zombie attack. Winged Sandals as the newest flying equipment sounds good, and we might see Gorgon Flail get reprinted.

I wouldn't mind eventually seeing an allied-color cycle of Swords. In contrast to the enemy-color swords which use opposing concepts, the ally swords use complimentary concepts like "Wind and Rain".

I'd be surprised if they did more swords. Pretty sure they were annoyed they had to finish the original cycle because they were too powerful.
I never owned any

Poseidon's Trident, used to create horses and some water sources in Greece. It could cause earthquakes when struck on the ground.

The Pelian Spear, Achilles' great mythical spear. Created by Hephaestus and given to Peleus at his wedding with Thetis.

Apollo's bow, could cause health or could cause famine and death in sleep.

Hermes's Winged Sandals, which allowed him to fly and move at super-sonic speeds

Aphrodite's Magic Girdle, a magic material that made whoever you desired would fall in love with you.

The Argo is the ship of the Argonauts. Its bow could talk and it had the power of prophecy

The Chariot of the Sun, the fiery chariot driven across the sky by the Greek god Helios

The Golden Fleece, sought by Jason and the Argonauts

Pandora's Box The sealed box that contained all the evils of mankind.

Caduceus is the winged rod of Hermes or Mercury, entwined with two serpents; originally a simple olive branch; in the hands of the god possessed of magical virtues; it is also seen as a symbol of peace. The Caduceus also became the symbol of the medical profession.

The Sword of Peleus, a magic sword that makes its wielder victorious in the battle or the hunt (Greek mythology)

The Sword of Death, A grey sword that can a kill a person if you just cut a lock of their hair off.(Greek Mythology)

Cronus' sickle, made of Adamantine and able to cut through anything (Greek mythology)

The Thunderbolts of Zeus, given to him by the Cyclops in Greek mythology,

The Aegis, Zeus' shield, often loaned to his daughter Athena, also used by Perseus (Greek mythology).

The Helmet of Hades, created by the Cyclopes for Hades. It made the wearer invisible.

The Armor of Achilles, created by Hephaestus and said to be impenetrable (Greek mythology)

Funny story: InQuest Magazine (I think it was InQuest) had an oversized Chaos Orb which I totally rooked someone into allowing into a (non-sanctioned) game. I had a proxy card that was a Mountain with "Chaos Orb" written on it. When I played it, my opponent cried foul: Him: "WTF? a Proxy? no-one said anything about Proxies. Do you even own an actual Chaos Orb?" Me: "Yes, but I thought it would be better to use a Proxy." Him: "No way. If you're going to put a Chaos Orb in your deck you have to use your actual Chaos Orb." Me: "*Sigh*. Okay." I pulled out this huge Chaos Orb and placed it on the table. He tried to cry foul again but everyone else said he insisted I use my actual Chaos Orb and that was my actual Chaos Orb. I used it, flipped it and wiped most of his board. Unsurprisingly, that only worked once and only because everyone present thought it was hilarious.

Hi guys! So, I'm a sort of returning player to Magic. I say sort of because as a child I had two main TCG's I liked. Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon. Some of my friends branched off in to Magic, and I bought two pre-made decks just to kind of fit in. Like I said, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon were what I really knew how to play. I have a extensive knowledge of deck building in those two TCG's. However, as far as Magic is concerned, I only ever used those two pre made decks. I know how the game is played, and I know general things, but now I want to get in the game for real. I want to begin playing it as a regular. My question is, are all cards ever released from the time of the inception of this game until present day fair game in a deck? Or are there special rules? Are some cards forbidden or restricted? Thanks guys, and I will gladly accept ANY help lol.
I have the same problem with women.

That's what RPJesus tends to do. That's why I don't think he's a real person, but some Magic Card Archive Server sort of machine, that is programmed to react to other posters' comments with obscure cards that do in fact exist, but somehow missed by even the most experienced Magic players. And then come up with strange combos with said cards. All of that is impossible for a normal human to do given the amount of time he does it and how often he does it. He/It got me with Light of Sanction, which prompted me to go to RQ&A to try and find if it was even possible to do combat damage to a creature I control (in light that Mark of Asylum exists).

They have plenty of cycles they don't finish and have no intent on finishing.  They didn't have to finish the cycle of those either.  People like them and I am sure some, most or all of the people in R&D like them.

Where do you get that they were annoyed by it?  Was it any interview or just a random feeling you have?

People would love an allied color pair of swords.  So it would sell packs and make the fans of the game happy.  I would immagine they would do them eventually.
Here's some guesses:

Winged Sandals (flight equipment)
Gorgon Flail (if you thought Izzet Staticaster was ridiculous with Nightshade Peddler...)
Evasion Helm (grants evasion, possibly hexproof)
Mirror Shield (flips blocked or blocking creature's power and toughness until end of turn)
Surestrike Trident (because why not? It works well with the power-boosting mechanics from RTR)
