Iconics

I'm trying to come up with a list of iconic characters for a d&d campaign i'd like to run in the future. What i mean by iconic:

1. Themes you see across fantasy stories, such as the half elf ranger who could have or should have been king
2. Class Race combos that just seem right despite editions of D&D, such as halfling rogue, the dwarf with an ax and a horned helm, or good hearted cleric of the sun god
3. Character concepts that almost speak for themselves.

Anyone who has any ideas to pitch in, please do so!
Human Barbarian with a huge sword. BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL!

Eladrin (Sun Elf?) Wizard. Why, these goblins will sort themselves out in a few years, just let me get back to my books...

Changeling Assassin. What do you mean the wine seems a bit off today, boss? I spiked it just for you!

Tiefling Warlock, because Tiefling Warlock.

Half-elf Bard. A little bit of this, a little bit of that.

Hamadryad/Wilden Druid. Bite at the bark and the bark bites back.

Drow Cleric. 'course, she's gonna summon spiders and poison people with her piety, but... yeah.

Jayce, the Mind Sculptor Psion.

Revenant (Vryloka) Vampire, with the Vampire Heritage feat. You can never be undead enough.
