Which do you like better?

So I'm not sure the exact direction I should go with this card.

Cthothos the Inevitable
Legendary Creature - Demon Levaiathan
You may cast ~ from anywhere.
8/8

I'm not sure on the creature type of this one, nor precisely on the colors.  I figure that such a unique effect demands at least three colors, but it seems to fit any color about as well as the others.  I could go five color and make it:

Fate
Creature - Incarnation
You may cast ~ from anywhere.
10/10

Also... does this effect even work within the rules?

No, not really. You'd have to make it two effects I think. One like panglacial wurm and one that says you may cast it from a revealed zone. Not sure on the exact wording though. Try the wording clinic.
What do you mean by "everywhere"? Can it be cast from the battlefield as well? What about the stack? Was Panglacial Wurm's ability taken into consideration?
Casting from the battlefield or from the stack could be interesting but actually, I think, works.  Casting it from the battlefield would move it to the stack, and then eventually enter play again, triggering ETBs and ridding itself of unwanted auras... a kind of expensive blink effect.  From the stack would also be interesting countercountermagic.  You're countering my ~?  Well, I'll just recast it from the stack before your counter resolves.

'From the library', to me, is the sticky part.   I think I'd limit it to an alternate casting method of being able to cast it from all public zones.

By everywhere, I meant library, exile, graveyard, hand, battlefield.  I suppose the stack would be problematic, but since it doesn't normally have flash that would be impossible anyway... and require 16 or 20 mana.  The notion that I'm going for is that once a player that runs this hits 8 or 10 mana, there's just no way to stop it from happening.  Hence fate or inevitability.
"You may cast ~ as long as it's revealed.
Whenever you search your library, you may reveal ~. If you do, you may cast it."

All cards I make have artists credited in the appropriate places. Artist names in "quotes" are DeviantArt usernames unless otherwise mentioned.

"I play a Grave Betrayal. I get all your dead things now, mwahahahaha!"
"Okay. I play a Phage the Untouchable. Piss me off and I will sac it."
"... ... ... so guys, remind me again how to sac my own enchantments?"

I think it works fine on the stack, the issue is, like everyone's pointed out, the library.

It essentially means anytime you want you can look through your library, find the card, cast it, not shuffle.

I think Icemetal's wording makes it work right.

Going with Panglacial's wording, we have the following.

Cthothos the Inevitable
Legendary Creature - Demon Leviathan
You may cast ~ as long as it is revealed.
While you are searching your library, you may cast ~ from your library.
8/8

or

Fate
Creature - Incarnation
You may cast ~ as long as it is revealed.
While you are searching your library, you may cast ~ from your library.
10/10

Which brings me back to my original question.  Which of the options do you like better?

On another note, since this no longer has the resonant simplicity that I liked, what about something like:

Paradox
Creature - Incarnation
You may only cast ~ from exile, the battlefield, or your graveyard.
3/3
Dead though it never lived, alive though it was never born.
?
Cue "Negates opponents removal" and "Leave the exile zone alone" comments in 3...2...1...

Also, I like Cthothos better, Fate's cost is way too restrictive and I will always pick Progenitus over it.

Meh, I feel like negating opponent's removal on a vanilla 3/3 that you had to jump through hoops to put onto the battlefield in the first place is fine.
Wouldn't Cthothos be able to ignore the commander tax? That's pretty cool.

why would it negate removal?
even though you can cast it from battlefield, doesn't have flash
so... not like you can re-cast it in response to a removal instant
or am i missing some other way it's removal proof?

EDIT = i realize you can then cast it from the removed zone (be that graveyard or exile) but that doesn't "negate"
Alternative:

You may reveal ~ from your deck before playing. If you do, it remains revealed for the rest of the game.
As long as ~ is revealed, you may cast it from anywhere.

Does that work any?

It'd be weird having it revealed in the middle of your library...

Agreed, but that comment has been made at every single design I've made which can be cast from exile...and none of those could be cast from the graveyard.  It, oddly enough, turns Unsummon into Murder for this creature.

On another note, if it weren't for the three color CMC, it's like a hyper-powered Gravecrawler...

To be honest, if going that route, it'd be better to just exile it face up before the game began.

Pretty sure theres a rule preventing cards in the library from being face-up.  I think you'd have to exile it face up at the beginning of the game.  In which case you've just made yourself a 56 card deck...

Not...really. I mean, there is this:

401.2. Each library must be kept in a single face-down pile. Players can't look at or change the order of cards in a library.

But as we know, effects do let you play with the top card revealed (referenced in rules following 401.2), and effects do let you change the order of cards in the library (scry anyone?), so...maybe it's not a written rule. It'd still be weird, though.

Hmm, that is true.  I guess it would just be weird.

At the pre-release some guy made me have all the cards in my deck facing the same way to prevent cheating...I guess this card could be used in that context, but outside of tourneys, you're right it conforms to the rules.
