So what DID happen on Zendikar?

In a recent podcast MaRo was talking about third sets and he mentioned that sometimes they are the climax ala RoE and sometimes they are the conclusion like AvR and NPH. He said the conclusion route was nice cus it let people know how the story ended, where as the climax flavored set does not. He said people know how Scars block's story ended, but he doesnt think most know how Zen/RoE ended.

That got me thinking i really dont know how that ended. I know that Jace, Chandra and Sarkhan awoke the Eldrazi and then Jace and Chandra split Zen, Sarkhan im not so sure about and what happened to teh rest of the plane in general?

If some one could indulge my curiosity that would be great or even if there is a link to somewhere that explains it that would work too.

that's more or less all we kow.

Those three released them, They started doing something. Gideon tried to stop one and failed and left for Ravica for back up (and got side tracked with joining a guild). And that's about it, I know the novel told what Nissa did but don't remember. But I do know it provided no closure for the storyline. So basically most people people don't know what happened after the Eldrazi because no one outside of WOTC knows.

Chandra hunted down the Eye, pursued by Sarkhan and Jace.  The Eldrazi woke up and the 'walkers split right before Gideon arrived looking for Chandra.  Then Gideon left to get reinforcements for Zendikar as the plane gets torn apart by space jellyfish.

Last we heard, the plane was still in the process of being torn apart by space jellyfish.

The Eye was a 2 stage lock.
Jace, Chandra, and Sarkhan released all the brood that were locked in the Puzzle Tower Tal Terig. They started to try to rebuild their empire, but had no real clue how to work the material world around them. They ended up making a bunch of crappy simulacra of the hedrons, and in general eating the world because they couldn't figure out how it worked.

Then Nissa and Sorin made the journey to The Eye and Nissa broke the central Hedron, which released the Titans from between worlds. Soooooooo, they began eating everything.... the end.
Bothersome, no?
So I guess it's possible that Bolas never intended to fully release the Eldrazi. If he did then why wouldn't he do something about the Eye? Did he just not know about it or was it some sort of horrible snaggle in the plot nobody thought of.
It's not too likely but I like the idea that Bolas only wanted to study some of the brood and it was Nissa who screwed everything up. Bolas of course had elf burgers that night.

He didn't know the Eye was a two stage lock.
Whatever he got from Ugin, the other dragon managed to keep that bit secret.
So it's been at least a couple weeks since the release of the Eldrazi, right? The way the Eldrazi were talked up, there can't be much of Zendikar left.

All inferences seem to point that way, save the fact that Zendikar was pretty popular and they'll want to return to it at some point.

Gideon at least thinks there'll be enough left to save when he rallies an army in Ravnica.

Pretty big, I'd guess. Dosen't it have multiple continents?

Well, Emrakul is a flying mountain, so that might speed things up.

Yeah, but it doesn't seem like it's capable of much velocity.
Maybe the choice of Zendikar was twofold. It's a place almost devoid of a population based on a person per square foot basis (less chance for them to be released) and on the off chance they did get released, the plane would act like a giant buffer. Enough servings to last the Eldrazi a while and buy time to potentially stop them.
Thanks for the info.

On a side note i wonder if its possible that Bolas is trying to eliminate all the competition for "bad-ass of the multiverse" as he was also interested in gaining some sway with the phyrexians. He sent Sarkhan to the Eye and Tezzeret to infiltrate the phyrexians. So i was kinda thinking maybe his plan was to power up in Alara, free the Eldrazi, then gain sway with the phyrexians and somehow get the Eldrazi to go to war with the phyrexians by having one faction invade the others plane. This would leave one side eliminated and the other likely thrashed to the point that Bolas could easily finish them off.
Also i think its kind of a flavor fail for Gideon to leace in search of recruits and get sucked in the whole Ravnican guild war, unless hes completely given up on Zen.

I mean Zen is currently enduring an extinction level event and Ravnicans, while being subject to oppression and exploitation have been around forever and likely would still be there and in need of help in a few weeks/months/years. Whereas Zen seems to have a very limited shelf life.

According to Sorin it was chosen because the mana was particularly rich and came across as something of a smorgasboard for the Eldrazi.
From what I can gather, Bolas wasn't interested in gaining sway with the Phyrexians. I imagine he's smart enough to know that's a dead end.
He sent Tezzeret to keep them from stabilizing under a single leadership.
Well, Emrakul is a flying mountain, so that might speed things up.

Tolaria Emrakul floats on a wheel of fortune madness. - Ertai Bill, Dimir Realist.

"The fuel on which science runs is ignorance. Science is like a hungry furnace that must be fed logs from the forests of ignorance that surround us. In the process, the clearing we call knowledge expands, but the more it expands, the longer its perimeter and the more ignorance comes into view." -Matt Ridley, Genome

Bolas doesn't think of the phrexians as puzzle pieces, I believe. They are more likely a nuisance, that can prove dangerous when given the right leadership. He sent Tezzeret to Mirrodin, now New Phrexia, to disrupt the Phrexian hiearchy even more then it was before. Now instead of five phrexian leaders, there is five, plus a planeswalker! This is going to cause alot of problems for the phrexians.

The way this is going to play out is, after a couple of years, and sets where random phrexian incursions accur, remeber Karn had been spreading the oil all around the Multiverse for awhile now, they are going to go back to Zendicar, but this time, it will be Phrexians from New Phrexia, probably, invading. My reasoning is that the blue phrexians have finally learned how to use the multi-planor transporters, but since the Eldarazi are draining Zendikar, which is a huge point of mana, it is creating a kind of stream in the aether, that is bringing things to Zendikar that shouldn't. The Phrexians craft, are getting pulled to Zendikar. Then they battle

Or it could be that Zendikar and New Phrexia are really close. Idk, all I know is that Bolas is a little wary of the Phrexians, probably because he can't really control them, and he awakened the Elderazi, probably as distractions, or as I mentioned earlier, to fight opponents that Bolas himself doesn't want to fight, or doesn't have time for.
They aren't close. Zendikar is kind of off in the boonies of the Eternities, while meanwhile you can literally see Mirrodin standing outside of Dominaria if you look in the right direction.

And we won't get Phyrexians invading Zendikar until we resolve the right to rule amongst themselves. Even then, they won't cross the streams unless it is through Bolas.

And we won't get Phyrexians invading Zendikar until we resolve the right to rule amongst themselves.

And Tezzeret's mission is to work against anyone getting to rule among them. So Bolas's plan is to stall them?

And he's getting them to Zendikar... how?

Gideon's plan was to get other planeswalkers to help. Who? Jace, of course, is already aware of them (this is a small multiverse after all). Vraska and Domri certainly aren't good choices here. So there's... Ral Zarek? DACK FAYDEN?!?

This.

Or, actually, I'm sure he could get Domri to tag along. All it would take would be:

"Hey kid, wanna fight some really big monsters?"

Domri would be all over that.

Imagining Ral, Dack, Jace, and Gideon as some sort of Eldrazi Ghostbuster team entertains me.

Omg I can so see that. Hey dack want an entire plane of treasure? Just kill the giant monsters with me first. Hey jace I can tell you the secret to my amazing hair, just help me first...

He went looking for the Infinite Consortium (we assume) only to come up with nil since... y'know, Jace wrecked the thing and then abandoned them.
So, he's back to square one.

And no, he isn't planning to take the Boros back. He got distracted by the shiny plight of the Ravnicans.

In my headcanon he was drawn to a crisis he had a chance of averting out of feelings of hopelessness/helplessness over the Eldrazi situation. This doesn't conlict with actual canon does it?

Not exactly. It's definitely a situation where he acted because he felt he would do some good, while alone he couldn't do anything about the Eldrazi.
