Power hitter archery build ideas.

Hi I am looking for suggestions for a power hitter archer or crossbowman build. I want to max out damage per shot. I don’t care about reload speed or attacks per round. I have done some experimenting with the great crossbow, and great bow, and have also compared straight fighter builds, with builds including sneak attack, and or skirmish, and or sudden strike, etc. Any assistance with feats, classes and prestige classes would be appreciated. I think that I want to stay away from the arcane casting archer builds.

thanks

Might I suggest giving this Handbook a once over: www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=289...
Based on the eat/sleep/gank build from Tempest group (you need 2 flaws, to be human, and to use the ranger 4 ACF[optional])

Ranger 2/ Scout 4/ Warrior 2/ Ranger +2/wilderness rogue 10
Feats are:
Lv1: Dodge, Mobility, Point blank shot, Weapon focus (light crossbow) + 2 flaws
Lv2: Rapid shot
Lv3: Rapid reload
Lv6: Swift hunter, Improve Skirmish
Lv7: Crosbow Sniper
Lv8: Manyshot
Lv9: Greater manyshot
Lv12: Swift ambusher
Lv15: Shot on the run
Lv18: Craven

In this way, you can move and use greater manyshot every rounds, you end with a bab of 16, a sneack attack of 5d6+20 and a skirmish of 7d6 (+6AC). You add your dex to your range damage and can snipe at 60 ft.

To do the same thing with a great crossbow, you'll need to be under a haste effect.
Even nastier, combine that build with the Machine Gun one (splitting enhancement, aptitude enhancement, lightning mace, etc).

I do, however, have one last lesson on this subject. That last one? The only build in this post that can one-shot average opponents[by dealing twice as much damage as they have HP? I would argue that it is not optimized. Why isn't it optimized? Because it's overkill. Overkill is NOT optimizing. This means that there are portions of this build dedicated to damage which can safely be removed and thrown elsewhere. For example, you probably don't need both Leap Attack AND Headlong Rush at the same time. You could pick up Extra Rage feats for stamina, feats to support AoO effects, feats that work towards potential prestige classes, and so on. However, you could also shift our ability scores around somewhat. I mean, if you're getting results like that with 16 starting Strength, maybe you can lower it to 14, and free up four points to spend somewhere else - perhaps back into Charisma, giving you some oomph for Intimidating Rage or Imperious Command if you want. You can continue to tune this until it deals "enough" damage - and that "enough" does not need to be "100%". It could easily be, say, 80% (leaving the rest to the team), if your DM is the sort who would ban one-hit killers.

So when do you think Bachmann will be saying she met a mother the previous night that had a son who got a blood transfusion using a gay guy's blood, and now the son is retardedly gay?
When she meets CJ's mom?

You know what's strangely good as an archery build? Bard/Warblade (Tome of Battle) focusing on Inspire Courage, make sure to get Song of the White Raven (Tome of Battle), and Knowledge Devotion (Complete Champion) and max out Arcana, Dungeoneering, Local, Nature, Religion and The Planes if at all possible. You'll use the Dancing and Raging Mongoose maneuvers to get additional attacks, as well as Time Stands Still to perform two full attacks. Dip two levels of Eternal Blade to gain the ability to ignore Damage Reduction.

This build gets so much bonus AB you won't need feats like Percise Shot (you can just take the -4), you can also focus mostly on Str and use Dex as your secondary stat and still not suck at hitting. This has the added bonus of making you a compitent hand with a Greatsword.

I reccomend 4 Bard levels so you have enough music per day, and can get Song of the Heart, you'll also still have a really good Initiator Level that way.

Half Elf
Bard 4 (Able Learner, Knowledge Devotion)
Warblade 7 (Song of the Heart*, Weapon Focus (Composite Longbow, Improved Initiative) *Eberron Campaign Setting
Eternal Blade 2 (Point Blank Shot)
Warblade +7 (Rapid Shot, Feat?, Bonus Feat?, Bonus Feat?)

Gear you'll want includes an Eternal Wand of Heroics (Can never remember the source), a Badge of Courage (Magic Item Compendium), and a Vest of Legends (Magic Item Compendium)

A Splitting (Champions of Ruin) bow's always good if your GM doesn't throw a book at you for it.
You probably won't be able to outperform the Energy Bow for your base weapon (and I'm shocked that isn't given a more prominent position in the archery handbook already linked).

Cancer prognosis: I am now cancer-free.

Seishi: I think it might be fun to have a one-off [game] tuned fairly, but with the intention of wiping the party.

DisposableHero_: if [my campaign] has taught me nothing else, it is that with this group, nothing tuned fairly will ever wipe the party

RadicalTaoist: I've been throwing **** at this group that's 5 levels over CRed in DFN, and have yet to wipe the party.

Ah, the Energy Bow! Although, is it a property of the bow or an ability possessed by Hank which lets him make power shots with it?
The bow. Otherwise, like Aegis-fang, it would have a Legacy Item-type caveat that "such & such only functions for X".
