What color is Withengar Unbound? and if it is put into a graveyard will it then be there with it's creature side upward or it's artifact side?

Withengar Unbound is black, because it has a black color indicator (that black circle in the type line).

In any zone except the battlefield, only the "day" side (Elbrus, the Binding Blade) exists. So it will be a colorless artifact on the graveyard.

[<o>]

711.2a In every zone other than the battlefield, and also on the battlefield with its front face up, a double-faced card has only the characteristics of the front face.

711.2b While a double-faced permanent's back face is up, it has only the characteristics of its back face. The back face doesn't have a mana cost; it has the colors in its color indicator (see rule 202.2e), if any.

That is to say, when it's in the graveyard it's an artifact (its normal front-side is the only side considered when the card is not-on-the-battlefield).  And when it's Withengar Unbound in play, it's Black, because that's what its color indicator (the little dot at the left of its type line) says it is.

What color is Withengar Unbound?

Withengar Unbound is black due to its color indicator (the small black circle on the left side of its type line)
and if it is put into a graveyard will it then be there with it's creature side upward or it's artifact side?

Outside of the battlefield, double-faced cards always have their front face up (in this case, Elbrus, the binding blade).

Note that for the purposes of deckbuilding, the color identity of Elbrus is black. This means it cannot be put it a Commander deck unless the Commander also has a black color identity.

That makes no sense to me. If they spelled the ability out on the card in full then it would not be allowed in a mono-black Commander deck, but because they used a keyword to save space it is allowed? ~ Tim
Yup, just like you can have Birds of paradise in a mono green deck but not Noble Hierarch. YAY COLOR IDENTITY

I love this description. Like the cows are sponges filled with milk. I can see it all Nick Parks claymation-style with the cow's eyes bugging out momentarily as a giant farmer squeezes it like a squeaky dog toy, and milk shoots out of it.

Note that when Withengar Unbound is destroyed either directly or trough combat, it will indeed "die", and trigger every trigger that care about creatures dying because those trigger when the permanent is "on its way" to the graveyard.

But Lazav, Dimir Mastermind won't be able to copy a Withengar Unbound that just died (put into the graveyard from the battlefield) because Lazav has a trigger that trigger when the card is actually put in the graveyard and, in this case, he'll only see the artifact.

How to autocard :
Type [c]Black Lotus[/c] to get Black Lotus.
Type [c=Black Lotus]The Overpowered One[/c] to get The Overpowered One.

Just had a random thought, what do you shuffle into your library if something made you shuffle a DFC into your library? The card, or its replacement?
Cannot be relied upon^
either the card if you are using sleeves (remember to turn it sunny side up) or the checklist card if you are using those

If it's in a sleeve, you shuffle in the DFC.  If you're using checklist cards, you shuffle in the checklist card.

If it's in a sleeve, you shuffle in the DFC.  If you're using checklist cards, you shuffle in the checklist card.

If you are using sleeved DFCs (make sure the sleeves are opaque enough!), you just de-sleeve it, turn it back over, re-sleeve it and put it in your library.

Personally I put my DFCs in clear backed sleeves and put sleeved Checklists in my decks.
