Hey there, I would like to use this thread as card archive for a while and refrain from creating single card threads! ^.^ I would like to improve the quality + quantity of the card collection that you can find above, until there are 77 cards that are really good.. If you don't really like single cards that you can find in the next posts, you might prefer the cards in the spoiler tags, and you're free to comment on any card in this whole thread..
creature with my "plot" mechanic

When "granting" this mechanic to enemy creatures, we should probably eliminate the choice! :/

"You're tired now, close your eyes. I'll count to three, and when you wake up, you're a bear and everyone around you is a tree."

77 is the best number stop making cards already. Also what does this thread have to do with jay-z?

Ah well I am not familiar with popular music so I wouldn't get it anyway I guess.

@altimis: I'm not sure what you're talking about here, I posted that one in a single card thread a few years ago! ^^;; I believe that many other people have designed cards with the same mechanic before, since it's just a more realistic interpretation of a creature's toughness and prevents super-weak creatures from defeating extremely resilient creatures by cherry-tapping..

@Matt_Holck: Its abilities aren't refering to the chosen value of X, they simply care about how many counters you just added or how many counters you just removed..

Why bother comparing 2 quantities that most of the time will be the creature with the highest power

I suppose the idea would be to target non-creatures but that pocess will be slow requiring multiple counters to match a creatures power,

X for each pemanent destroyed ?

Charge counters on artifacts or lands, quest counters on enchantments, loyalty counters on planeswalkers...not to mention -1/-1 counters on creatures (for example, if the highest power out is 5, but you have a creature with 6 -1/-1 counters, that gets hit instead). Likewise, a creature with power 5 being the highest will also take out artifacts, planeswalkers, etc. with 5 counters on them.

All cards I make have artists credited in the appropriate places. Artist names in "quotes" are DeviantArt usernames unless otherwise mentioned.

"I play a Grave Betrayal. I get all your dead things now, mwahahahaha!"
"Okay. I play a Phage the Untouchable. Piss me off and I will sac it."
"... ... ... so guys, remind me again how to sac my own enchantments?"

This just in cats is JayZ.

Some pretty neat cards in there cats.
That's what you get for creating archive threads, nobody has posted any comments on the last 5-6 cards! ~.~ But maybe it's because the forum activity has decreased heavily in the last days? Let's post other cards in this thread here, before creating single card threads again for some cards..

Curious Mentalist -
Creature - Human Wizard
Each opponent plays with a card in his or her hand revealed. (Players may change the revealed card anytime.)
At the beginning of your upkeep, each opponent changes the card that's revealed with Curious Mentalist.
2/2
Regarding curious mentalist, what happens when an opponent has to reveal their hand because of Coercion or Gitaxian Probe or whatever? Do all the cards in their hand becoming "revlealed" change which one cares about the mentalists ability? Can they change without you drawing a card when that happens? And then, what happens if I have a Telepathy out?

No matter how many different cards are revealed in how many different ways, there's exactly one single card that's revealed with "Curious Mentalist".. Some cards like Telepathy require opponents to announce when they're changing the revealed card! ^.^
With the mentalist... can they change it at anytime?
Or can they only change it by playing it, then choosing another.

You're allowed to change the card anytime, but most players won't do that until that one card leaves their hand anyway.. And that other ability that you're thinking about probably uses different wording: "When Curious Mentalist enters play, each opponent reveals a card in his or her hand. They continue being revealed until they leave that player's hand." Edit: Actually, I just changed my card to increase the simplicity! ^^;;
As long as they're printing cards that are strong against non-basic lands, why not?

Toxic Grounds
Land - Swamp
Deathtouch

I don't know the specifics, but isn't this strictly better than a swamp?

Some cards reward you for playing basic lands, and some cards punish you for playing non-basic lands.. And honestly, in how many decks would you replace four Swamps with four copies of this card?
1 deck that themes are animating lands

Why wouldn't you replace four swamps with this?
It does the exact same thing as a swamp, but is better.
Granted it's nonbasic, so several fetches are out... but when it gets animated it has deathtouch.
There has to be a drawback for it to be printable, according to current WOTC lands policy thing...

"Zendikar" featured Tectonic Edge and some other cards that only worked against non-basic lands! ^.^

Agreed... but I don't know (I really don't think) that that's a big enough drawback.

I think it's niche enough that it'd be fair if you made it not a swamp. People wouldn't run four of them without any enablers in the same way that not every single deck in modern replaces a single Island with a Minamo, School at Water's Edge.

http://nogoblinsallowed.com/

there's no comepelling reason not to run 1 Minamo, School at Water's Edge in any blue deck with legends
Unfortunately, some cards only animate Swamps, and many cards only animate Forests! ~.~

Toxic Marshland
Land - Forest Swamp
Toxic Marshland enters play tapped.
Deathtouch
It's possible to play the card in mono-colored decks, because of artifact and hybrid-mana cards! ^.^

Sadistic Fantasies -
Instant
Name three different mana costs that don't have a mana symbol in common, then an opponent chooses one. Search your library for a card with the chosen mana cost, reveal it and put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.
"Should I burn you, freeze you or stab you with my knife?"
This creature might or might not be too strong as one-mana creature, especially when combined with untapping effects, but it's also rather weak as two-mana creature..

Excited Burglar -
Creature - Human Rogue
Whenever Excited Burglar untaps, it gains "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, draw a card." until end of turn.
"Wait, didn't I miss a treasure chest that was hiding in a corner?"

Yeah, but only if your opponent allowed you to connect once without any help! ^.^

Neato! See, this is my problem - I have no good criticism. I just see something and start blithering like a fool about how "neato" it is! But this one really is the cat's meow. Which I assume you understand, since you seem to know something of non-(your country) culture, Jay-Z. Anyway, ooh, this is just opening a lot of doors in my mind for "variable different BLANK" cards. Three different creature types. Three different numbers for damage. Three different land types would make a super cute tutor, no? Three different colors, then add three of the chosen color to your mana pool. Or whatever. Anyway, I guess I just like being inspired by the things you post.
Some of your ideas were already used on some printed cards, for example Signal The Clans + Gifts Ungiven + Realms Uncharted.. Anyway, thank you for your post! :3
Near-Death Visions -
Enchantment
Flash
When three or more damage is removed from a creature you control, sacrifice Near-Death Visions and draw three cards.
Hmm, near death visions doesnt feel much green from a flavor standpoint.

Well, sorta, but I meant more like:

Unpreritual
Sorcery
Name three different colours. An opponent chooses one. Add three mana of the chosen colour to your mana pool.

"An expert in the most important elements of sorcery, she only wishes that she could remember which was which."

Except of course, this would be used mostly for colourless casts - but it isn't my fault that people don't want to play for fun.

The three different creature types one is similar to Signal the Clans. Is it too similar? I'm not sure what determines that.

Let's see. . .

Rhuky's Edict
Sorcery
Name three different types. An opponent chooses one and sacrifices a permanent he or she controls of that type.

"Renounce material possession and corporeal existence!"
- Prophets of the Dark Feather

Thrice As Nice
Instant
Name three different numbers. An opponent chooses one. For each creature with that power, triple it.

That one might work better with two/double.

Anyway, sorry for clogging up your card thread with my cards but I wanted to demonstrate my meanings.

Mechanically it's nice, though; it's card draw that encourages you to play big creatures with high toughness. It'd be cool with different flavor.

I don't like flash on it, though.

@magicpablo666: It's pretty difficult to design cards like this, because these effects are pretty often the same thing as "Target opponent sacrifices a permanent." or "Target creature gets +X/+X until end of turn". unless the spell does nothing because one of the options is totally useless..

@Fenix/Shazzeh: I'm thinking of creatures that can regenerate, that's what inspired the name! ^.^
Let's design another one-mana creature, my best-of collection could need another pegasus anyway! ^.^

Hunted Pegasus -
Creature - Pegasus
Flying
Adrenaline 3 (This creature enters play with three charge counters on it and it has "Remove a charge counter from it: This creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.")

previous cards that care about diversity

Product Diversity -
Sorcery
Search your library for an artifact card with converted mana cost equal to the lowest non-zero converted mana cost artifacts in play don't have and put that card into play, then shuffle your library.

Biological Diversity -
Sorcery
Search your library for a creature card with converted mana cost equal to the lowest non-zero converted mana cost creatures in play don't have and put that card into play, then shuffle your library.

Cultural Diversity -

It's pretty difficult to determine the power level of this card! ~.~

Diversity's Reward -
Sorcery
Reveal cards from the top of your library until two of the revealed cards share a card type. Put all cards revealed this way into your hand, then discard three cards.

But here, I'm 100% sure that it's not completely overpowered! ^.^

Cultural Breakdown -
Sorcery
Choose a non-land card type, then target player reveals his or her hand. If two or more cards with the chosen type are revealed this way, that player discards two cards with the chosen type.
