[48 hourish Contest] You make the Commander with no planning - Prelim

A while back, there were two very memorable contests / games:

Mono's you make the commander (Probably not the exact name)
And Razg's You make the set with no planning.

Here I will try to combine the two see if this is fun.

Welcome to You make the Commander with no planning - Prelim

Criteria: Make a commander EDH. It must be three or less colors. It must be multiplayer (team play or ffa) oriented.

GO WILD!

Edit: A small hint. Submissions will be judged against available (already printed) commanders in exactly those colors.

Whenever you cast a creature spell, you may counter it. If you do, choose one - Draw X cards; or that spell deals X damage to target creature or player, where X is that creature spell's power.

Yay, no planning!  I was gonna plan, but I resisted the urge.

Better answer is: coz' there are no other commanders in those colors. And it seems like to a good cutting point in terms of number of colors.

Whaddya mean "judged against"?  What will you compare and contrast? Power level? Featured abilities? Creature type? Mana cost?

The no planning part will be more relevant when we get pass the Prelim stage.
You need not worry about that now.

@SuperSpawnWrithe
In short, mostly just roles and play style.

Say If made a mono red colored commander, your commander should play differently to most other famous* mono red commander. e.g. they care about different things or want different cards to combo with etc...

I mean if I look at a general and think "I probably would play with this rather", it'll probably have a smaller chance to win

Just have to say, most of the submissions are exceptional. Thing is though I am probably gonna pick the one that probably I personally want to play most with.  So designs that didn't get picked are not necessarily any worse than the one that got picked.

This is amazing. It hits the multiplayer note flawlessly. I really like the combat damage trigger. A nit-pick here though: it seems to want to go for aggro/beat 40-to-0-path rather than the EDH-priviledged-21-commander-damage-path, which is rather tough to play. Right now its power level seems to be closer to Rapacious One when it can probably be closer to Hydra Omnivore. In an eternal format like EDH, you probably won't want a 6-to-cast commander being out-classed by format-staple 6-to-cast creatures.
Blade for strength. Strength for fire. Fire for glory.

Haha another one that hits my "funny bone". One of my most favourite card to play in red is radiate This takes it to the next level. I suspect the trigger is a bit too cheap. But I definitely won't mind to massively-ramp with my tokens (or even valakut for the win without scapeshit lol). Good job! Lots of build potential. Also Very unique in this color combination, but that probably because if they do print something like that it would end up in something with blue. But I enjoy the aspect that it stays out of blue. definitely needs something more fun than just beat.
3/3

Yay, no planning!  I was gonna plan, but I resisted the urge.

Edit: Oh wait, multiplayer oriented.... I might've noticed that if I'd stopped to plan this better...

I'm a big riku fan. There's something weird about this card that I'm not sure if you intended it. Once this hits play, all your spells are effectively "uncounterable". And counterspells WAS running rampant in my meta for a while. Sad part is, if you are playing this against heavy control, I doubt this would stick. This retains all of riku's downside.
Another nitpick I have is that it almost seem like it would turn your dead card to something readily useful but it doesn't quite get there. An instant or sorcery without a legal target still get stuck in your hand. This will welcome a range of cards with cost-reduce-mechanic. Or just phyrexian dreadnought for 12 cards? It's an amazing design; it certainly plays differently than generals in ; But there's a tiny part in me, with nivmagus elemental in mind, that resist the idea of playing/building around him.
One tricky thing about commander is that you obviously want to it to be "build around me" but you don't really want it to dictate how you play. I know there are plenty of bad printed exmaples but I believe in that philosophy. Another tricky thing is that people have ways to get rid of your commander (e.g. tucking), and if your deck is too specifically tailored to your commander, it will fall apart once it's gone.
: Change the target of target spell or ability.
3/4

At first sight this card seems to mess with multiplayer heavily (which is fun for some people). A spellskite that's always on is funny. Problem is that its abilities are quite expensive. And in a multiplayer game with decent size, you won't have mana ready for it after your first/second opponent's turn.
1) It kinda wants to be in the same deck with Doran, the siege tower but it can't (i mean when it's the general). The ability is pretty unfun and potentially leads to bad gamestage. And I think the effect belongs to red better.
Group-hug-level: Phelddagrif. Between the difficulty of building around this and getting X higher than 0-1, I don't know what to think of this, especially when it acts as a commander.
The Handler
Legendary Creature - Golem
When The Handler enters the battlefield, you may search your library for up to two Equipment cards with different names and place them on the battlefield. Until end of turn, you may pay rather than their equip cost.

If an equipment you control gives a creature a bonus to Power, that bonus is increased by +1.
If an equipment you control gives a creature a bonus to Toughness, that bonus is increased by +1.

He has everything we need.

there are already plenty legendary creatures that cares about equipment. Sorry I won't use this one.
[spoiler SimonGlume]This is Isperia, Supreme Judge on steriod. As in, their creatures don't even need to attack you for you to draw a card (given they don't have vigilance. The first ability did give me a smile though. I think it's probably better worded as "You may pay instead of paying its mana cost to cast ~." which would sound totally foreign and weird to people who don't play EDH.
I enjoy cards that interacts specifically with the format like Skullbriar, the Walking Grave but blatantly breaking one of the format's fundamental rules doesn't seem like a healthy idea.
Oh hey newcomer inbound. Don't know if I just missed the deadline but this thread combined with my relatively fresh intrest in edh inspired me to post a card. Still split on whether it should cost 5 or 6 mana but w/e.

It was originally sac a noncreature when you cast a creature and draw a card, but I had to make it multiplayer. Can I still change it? Maybe make it z monger, or change the first to sac a noncreature when you play a creature, or the other way around.

~'s Power and toughness are equal to the number of cards in all players' hands.

Whenever you play a forest, draw a card.

"The war is over, but the fate of Yavimaya is still in my hands."
Acidic Slime, Creeping Mold, Feast of Worms, Ice Storm, Kudzu, Mwonvuli Acid-Moss, Rain of Thorns, Reap and Sow, Rolling Spoil, Spreading Algae, Thermokarst, and Winter's Grasp would all like to have a word with you.

Yeah, sure, destroying lands is predominantly red, even though the most famous one is white.
That doesn't make it land destrustion's one and only color.

no,i'm not talking about destroying land in general. I'm talking about the attrition-style "Each player Sac this". Green is more about preserverance. It does one sided destruction without hurting himself.
"Let's all sac something and I don't care about myself" is a bit red.
"Let's all sac something but you are gonna hurt more" is closer to black.

I didn't say it out loud but the general I'm looking for , besides that it has to playable, is a general with something that a certain color combination has yet to offer. This one is great!! The lose life part could potentially hurt a lot, especially in an edh game. And the gain life part is probably relevant as well. I also like how it plays on the color and balance without invoking the banned card outright. Red does hate on big hands. Rakdos' old mechanic was hellbent. white supplies the gain life and care for the meek. It's strongly favors attrition style without playing around with "sacrifice" (which appears on every other black and white general lol).
As I have mentioned in above comments and a few posts up. I'm mainly looking for something different. An upgrade multani, maro-sorcerer wouldn't quite make the cut. I love the reference though. It's a great design but just not for this contest.
Interesting comments on my card.  I've never played Commander so its difficult to design for it.  I find it very taxing to build a 100 card deck based on singeltons.  I'd love to do it, but the perfectionist Johhny in me would force me to spend like 6 weeks building the damn deck.

I am a big johnny too. I used to have a hard time filling all the slots. Heck, my first general was sliver queen (just coz' i didn't really have any good legends) and I almost had probably getting it fill up to 100.

Now there are so many cards I want to play and so many staples when i play a certain color that I have a hard time cutting down to 100 cards lol.

Glad you like the comments. Thanks for participating. XD

I'm split between Fallingman, SuperSpawnWrithe, and fifty_cal

Fallingman: The more a read your card the more I love it. I wasn't aware the tokens were flying during the first read. Since EDH is mostly filled with utility creatures, flying feels even more relevant in this format than in limited/constructed. I like the idea of that each card now has two purposes in your deck.

SuperSpawnWrithe: As I have praised in my original comments, I am so glad that we finally have a "smart" commander. Seriously, all the existing ones are so "dumb".

fifty_cal: I thoroughly enjoy the aspect where you hit on the meta. Card advantage is at even higher importance as resource and tempo become less of an issue than in other format. This cards outrights says screw you blue (draw) and green (land fetches), and unite the three colors that have the least direct ways to get ahead in card advantage.
