There's something so cathartic about snatching away victory with a well timed Appetite for Brains or Duress.

Sorcery
Name a color. Target player reveals his or her hand. You choose a card revealed this way that's the chosen color. That player discards the chosen card.




Trinket Snatch

Sorcery
Target player reveals his or her hand. You choose an artifact or enchantment revealed this way. That player discards that card.




Cruel Mercy

Sorcery
Target player reveals his or her hand. You choose a card revealed this way. That player discards another card.




Eldrazi's Claim

Target player reveals his or her hand. You choose a colorless card revealed this way. That player exiles that card.

Cruel Mercy is awesome. 

The rest of them are printable, but not particularly exciting.  Cannabilistic Thoughts is the second most interesting.

I'm too lazy to look up the rules right now, but I think Eldrazi can target lands, which seems too powerful...then again Encroach.

I agree, Eldrazi's Claim is too powerful. There's a reason why there are no cheap discard spells (that I'm aware of), that can make a player discard a basic land. Because it seriously disrupts mana development, similar to cheap land destruction. It at least needs a "nonland" addition.

Discriminate is in pretty much the same boat, since the first land played usually gives you a really good idea for which color to choose. Compare it to Distress. Maybe let the targeted player choose the card to discard (of the chosen color of course).

I really like Cruel Mercy.
Lands are colorless, so yes, it Eldrazi Claim would be able to exile lands.

@Eldrazi's Claim Yes it can snatch lands. I had forgotten that Encroach couldn't get basics. I would probably change Claim to not be able to snatch basics.

Sirocco, Mind Bomb, Skullscorch and Tyrannize have had this flavor (discard, or take some hurting to prevent discard).
Hmmm, Mind Bomb is pretty close, minus the targeting.  I really meant that I thought I had seen it designed on the Forums before.

The point being: Grotesque doesn't require a swamp, just a black mana.  Its no different than () really.  Both can be played in a mono-white deck...Undiscovered Paradise.
