Rakdos deck with Bolas

So I'm trying to build a decent B/R aggro deck (modern legal) and I was hoping to get some suggestions from more experienced players. I'd like to play Grixis colors but I'm not really into doing a 3 color control deck. Still, I have this copy of Nicol Bolas that I would love to include but I'm getting the feeling that 8 mana is too much, too late in the game. Almost every time I've played him, I blow up one thing and then next turn he gets smoked. Basically, I'd like suggestions for creatures that can back him up. As it stands I'm trying to stall with small creatures until I can get 5 mana, 'bolt or Bump in the Night to be able to cast Rakdos and then bring down all kinds of nasty creatures (Necropolis Regent, Blood Tyrant, Thraximundar, Defiler of Souls).
In my initial incarnation of the deck, I just went B/R and tried to get as aggro as possible but now I'm splashing blue to try and play Bolas. I guess my real question is: is he worth playing in this kind of deck? I'd post a build but I'd just like to hear other people's opinions of Bolas. Can he work in an aggro deck or should I just try for Grixis control (go more blue, play Niv-Mizzet and lots of counters)? Kinda just reaching out to the community cuz I don't know anyone on the boards. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm not new to magic but I'm new to the boards. Thanks!

You might get more sucess by posting in the "casual decks" section, however, it's not "wrong" to post here.

In terms of standard and modern "aggro" decks usually top out at 4 mana or fewer. Anything that costs more than 4 mana is unplayable in most aggro decks.

My first question is are you playing multiplayer? Many of the 8 CMC spells which aren't really playable in 1 vs 1 strategies become the foundation for a good multiplayer decklist.

My first impression from what you've written about the decklist is that it isn't an aggro decklist. nicol bolas, planeswalker works ok in some control strategies. It's never been a great card in 1 vs 1 and I can't think of any decks in standard, extended or modern that relied on him. Usually people were playing cruel ultimatum and nicol bolas, planeswalker was an afterthought (if they even played him).

As you mentioned he is a big target and if the opponent has the opportunity they'll take him out first chance they get. Still you have to consider if 8 mana for "destroy target noncreature permanent" and prevent at least 8 damage is worth it for 8 mana. Additionally there are some deckbuilding decisions you could make to maximize his use if you do decide to play him. For example if you're playing doubling season or proliferate you could set up a scenerio where you can start adding more loyalty counters than they can remove.

Probably just post the decklist in the casual decks section and see what advice people give.
Don't be too smart to have fun
Thanks for the input and yea, I usually play this deck in like a two headed giant or 2v2 game. Ill work up a decklist and post it in the appropriate thread. Cheers!
