GTC Draft Tips

I am going to be attempting my first GTC draft tonight and would like some tips on what guild or strategy to draft. I've gone over the set a little bit so i'm not going into the draft basically blind but coming from the veteran GTC drafters out there. what should I go for, for the best chance of succeeding. Thanks everyone!

I consistently see that Orzhov is the most consistent guild if you wish to stick to 2 colors.  Tonnes of removal, and extort is a very powerful mechanic.

Of course, this means that it is usually picked more, so you are competing.  As always, if you are lucky to have players on both sides passing you all the Red/Green cards, then you will make a very tough deck also.

Boros is risky - it often comes out the gates impressively, but often it can run out of steam.

Dimir can work but it is more fragile than Boros or Gruul.  Dimir particularly shines when your opponent is playing Orzhov, as his grinding play plays into Dimir's hand.

You seem to be a blue/green player, so perhaps you will get some nice Simic cards passed to you.

Good Luck!

Thank you. After doing a little research i've noticed alot of people drafting orzhov and utilizing the extort ability pretty well. I've also seen a Boros/Grull mix that came out of the gate fast and hard and dropped a couple fattys after the steam wore off. or just hung on to the burn they drafted after the initial heavy wave was stopped. and I've read that Dimir wasn't the best bet.

Moving to the Limited Forum, where you should get a more complete answer on this.

Unfortunately, VCLs do not currently have the tools necessary to take moderation actions directly. VCLs submit their actions to ORCs, who then actually perform the action. This processing can take between a few minutes and several hours, depending on how busy/attentive the ORCs are.

If you see something that needs VCL attention, please use this thread to make a request and a VCL will look at it as soon as possible. CoC violations should be reported to Customer Service using the "report post" button. Please do not disrupt the thread by making requests of either kind in-thread.

The trick to Gatecrash is drafting agressive decks filled with 2-drops. Boros sets the speed and you have to keep up somehow.

I really like the agressive Orzhov decks myself, although I've had the most succes with Simic.
