Stop running Blasphemous Act.

The fact you run Reckoners does not make it a good Aggro card, and the fact your opponents run Reckoners means you die when you cast it anyway.
What about Mutilate?
rolling tremblor, however, is fine with reckoner

what's even better is when they play strategies in their videos that are at least a week or 2 too old.

not to mention it would be better if they actually took the time to play 5 "worthwhile" games, not random nutdraw vs. mulligans.

NO WONDER YOU PLAY RED

Blasphemous Act is a great card. Just don't be an idiot and nuke yourself for 13 while doing so.

It does bother me that they don't cheat in their playtesting by staying at 6 at the very least. When you have a 5-card hand, the game is usually flopped before it ever begins. Also, the cheating they do makes little sense because they create situations of perfect information which aren't typical of a Magic game- thus flattening the game into "correct" and "incorrect" choices not based in partial information.

No, it's a bad card. That's why nobody plays it.
So I don't know which videos you're hating on, but you seem surprised they aren't there to do SERIOUS showcasing of the deck.

The XvY battles are there first for entertainment, second to show some of the plays that can happen, as an educational tool.. You can't not show mulligans, because they still happen. Its also good to show mulligans so you can know how to play when you have them.

The videos where they play on MODO are just there as entertainment. They might have some stuff to teach you, but its most importantly just for people to watch the gameplay. They are also nothing but a single Daily Event usually.

i dunno, it just really feels like they half-ass their way through the videos too much.  for paying the premiums, they should put a little more effort in, i guess is my sentiment.

omg but it was on daily magic too and those guys play magic daily so they must be right

I found Carmen Sandiego before you were born unless you're Zlehtnoba.

There were 4 copies of Blasphemous Act in the finals of the PT today: 2 in Larsson's MD, and 2 in Martell's sideboard.

Only thing worse than playing a card only because it's proclaimed as good by the pros is hating on it for the same reason.
Yah, this thread and the claims about how bad gyre sage are quite amusing given the results of the pro tour

You can't blame people. It is a decent beater...sometimes and it ramps out a six drop in an aggro deck that couldn't run the six drop otherwise...sometimes. It is this weird Tarmo-Archdruid thing.
NEVER!

Congrats, people played some random jank? Want a cookie?

@Jman22: At what point does something cease to be random jank? Winning 2 pro tours??

The people that top8 a pro tour are getting lucky, certainly, but the cards they choose are very deliberate and due to a ton of testing.

I agree that using act in a meta where everyone is running reckoner seems questionable to me, but then again, Im not top8ing pro tours. I doubt you are either. That doesnt mean what the pros do is gospel, but if something happens significantly different that what you expect at a pro tour and you refuse to acknowledge it as anything but luck...

Results tend to speak for themselves at large high-level events.
Blasphemous Act was a miserable call by anyone at that pro tour. They would have been (and mostly were) served better by Harvest Pyre, if you want that sort of thing.

And yes, Gyre Sage is random jank.

(at)MrEnglish22

Gyre Sage is bad but not the worst card you could be playing. It can serve you in a 3/4 role most of the time or accelerate you to your top end like a turn faster. It's not good but it's not awful.

I don't know. Act seems like an okay sideboard card to me. Then again, I tend to trust the judement of Martell, Finkel and company.

Out of the side against decks that don't have reckoner is fine, but if you think you are going to be sneaky with Act, then they drop down their own Reckoner, you're gonna have a bad time.

(at)MrEnglish22

The decks running Reckoner by and large don't want sweepers, they're Aggro.

The ones that do want sweepers need better ones than Act that don't work against other Reckoners.

Harvest Pyre is better for surprise kills, in multiple ways.

I agree. Can you link to some of your Pro Tour matches, so we can compare it to some good calls?

To clear up the flak you're receiving your rebuttal here is a logical fallacy.
