BGx? Servitude

I'm new to this standard environment, but I have been playing Magic for almost 19 years... which dates me, I guess.  I like what Innistrad block and Ravnica block have done so far and I'm interested in making a deck, at least, to test the waters.

The whole point of the deck, even without a fully fleshed out list, aside pressure on the opponent, is to make use of Blood Artist and Immortal Servitude.  The deck will have between 22 and 24 lands.

4 CMC Version
[deck=Amoral Servitude v.2]
Creatures
4 Falkenrath Noble
3 Disciple of Bolas
3 Balustrade Spy
3 Lotleth Troll
2 Crypt Ghast
4 Undercity Informer
3 Harvester of Souls

 Enchantments
4 Heartless Summoning

Spells
4 Grisly Salvage
3 Immortal Servitude

Land
4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Woodland Cemetery
x Forest
x Swamp
[/deck]
More 'enters the battlefield' creatures for 3 cmc or less.

More Harvestor of Souls.

Another sac outlet. I think there's a 4 cmc guy with a 2/2 body so he lives through heartless (which is good here).

Less caring about what your opponent does.

Go!

Before I go and edit, I wondered, when I was building:  What cmc I would be aiming for with Immortal Servitude?  One of my conundrums.

You should try to balance with Heartless Summoning for max value. 3 should give you ease of cast and full value from Heartless and be within reach of Servitude. At least start there.

The wording on Immortal Servitude is not 'X or less', it's just X. If you choose X=3, you will not get back your Blood Artists to get all those triggers going.
Alright, some early edits to the deck, for which there will be testing this evening, which a small hodgepodge of stuff I can find (proxies et al).

I removed the 2 casting creature base and have moved to 4.  I found the 3 cmc sac outlet: Undercity Informer.  He's pretty strong.  Now that the deck has evolved a bit I think Lotleth deserves a spot in here again.

-4 Blood Artist
-4 Elvish Visionary
-3 Soul of the Harvest
-3 Lotleth Troll

+3 Crypt Ghast
+4 Undercity Informer
+4 Falkenrath Noble
+4 Balustrade Spy
+4 Disciple of Bolas
Your updated list doesn't have a discard outlet like your original one did. Pitching creatures in the graveyard is much more efficient than having to cast them first, even if Heartless Summoning does make them cheaper. I really thought X=2 was a great idea.
I have a couple of different visions for this deck.  I haven't tested either form yet.  This is, sadly, the theory crafting.  Lotleth is going back in.
Also, having a bunch of X/1s come back into play and then die immediately to start triggering Blood Artist(s) while at the same time drawing a bunch of cards seemed pretty sweet. Add in the discard outlet you had, and I think the deck was on the right track.
So I have a toss-up, then.  2 cmc creatures vs. 4 cmc creatures.  Both using Lotleth as a discard outlet.  The reason I swapped to four, was somewhat on Niche's advice for ETB / CITP triggers.

Will focus on the 4 cmc one for now then move to build a 2 cmc one afterwards.
Not to hog the thread, but going X=4 means that you have to cast Servitude for 7... casting it for 5 sounds MUCH better to me. I also think the card draw from Elvish Visionary is going to be key here to get all your pieces up and running.
You're making good points.  Got distracted by etb perhaps and lack of good stuff in GB.  Another reason 7 wouldn't be hard to get and servitude possibly made an afterthought, is the Crypt Ghast.

Still, worth it for what you say.
Double posted, I know.  Tossed up both versions.  2 CMC looks better to me too.
Rats and Black Cats, nice. I like the 2 cmc version a lot on the theory side. Let me know how it plays out!!
The 2 cmc variant is looking good.

We need to ditch the pack rat for anything else of value. Maybe we just add in 2 Soul of the Harvest since it has trample, provides the etb value, and is big enough to end a game occasionally. However I'd look for more 2 cmc cards first.

I went with:

-1  Ravenous Rats
+1 Black Cat
-2 Pack Rat
+3 Undercity Informer
+2 Soul of the Harvest

So far the deck is lacking 1 card for a 22 land version; could just go with 23.  Decided that random discard was better than the other.  I looked at the deck after I went with the informers to cycle things and have the occasional emergency blocker with Harvester and Lotleth.

I'm getting twitchy because this deck isn't interractive... aside the discard.  I want to have some form of disruption.  I think that's more Legacy views coming in, though.

Updated.
I think Deathrite Shaman might be amazeballs here. Better than Informer. Reach, mana bump, stall, disruption against reanimator.

Hrm.  Three or four of them?  Four may be hard to fit now that I have removed the informers.

EDITed OP:

-1 Grisly Salvage
-1 Abrupt Decay
-1 Black Cat
+3 Deathrite Shaman
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and good game :D

Definitely an extremely interesting deck. I’m liking the CMC 2 version better.
