MTGO on Surface

People have been clamoring for an MTGO iPad app since forever.  But now the Surface is out, and it has a regular Windows mode, right?  So will it run MTGO?  Has anyone tried it?
I think I saw someone say that it worked fine.  Or, maybe that was someone with a windows 8 tablet laptop....is that different than the surface.  I'm ignorant on this...

As I understand it Win 8 is not compatible with MTGO beta as of now. Am I am wrong?

I thought they recently fixed it so that it is mostly or totally compatible.

I hope that I'm not all kinds of confused...

I am currently unaware of any issues with Windows 8 and any version of MTGO.

Unfortunately, VCLs do not currently have the tools necessary to take moderation actions directly. VCLs submit their actions to ORCs, who then actually perform the action. This processing can take between a few minutes and several hours, depending on how busy/attentive the ORCs are.

If you see something that needs VCL attention, please use this thread to make a request and a VCL will look at it as soon as possible. CoC violations should be reported to Customer Service using the "report post" button. Please do not disrupt the thread by making requests of either kind in-thread.

It's not a surface, but I have windows 8 on my machine (laptop) and the both clients run fine.
Just be careful, before you run out and buy a Surface tablet, because there are two out there and they do not both work with MTGO (I don't think).

The cheaper tablet runs Windows 8 RT, which is stripped down version of the operating system and only runs those apps that have been specially modified to run there. Think of it like the difference between the operating system on your computer and the operating system on your phone (Windows RT is based heavily on the current Windows Phone operating system.) To the best of my knowledge Wizards has not had someone made an RT version of the MTGO client, so you cannot run it there.

The more expensive tablet is called the Surface Pro, and that runs a full version of Windows 8. If you want to play Magic on a tablet, that is the Surface you want.

That said, there are alot of computers and convertible tables out there right now that run the full Windows 8 and can provide MTGO functionality. Just be careful with which version you buy. As a rule of thumb, if there are two versions of what look like the same thing, the cheaper one doesn't run MTGO.
