GW Enchantments

I cobbled this together from leftovers.  As a subtheme, all of my creatures are gold or hybrid in nature.  Enchantresses (Mesa and Verduran) are in other decks, so this does something different.

Land 24
10x Forest
10x Plains
1x Sunpetal Grove
1x Secluded Steppe
1x Tranquil Thicket
1x Gavony Township

Creatures 17
4x Watchwolf
4x Centaur Healer
3x Selesnya Sagittars
2x Pale Recluse
1x Krond the Dawn-Clad
1x Kitchen Finks
1x Elderwood Scion
1x Tolsimir Wolfblood

Noncreatures 20
4x Ethereal Armor
4x Snake Umbra
4x Sphere of Safety
3x Prison Term
2x Rancor
1x Indrik Umbra
1x Selesnya Charm
1x Three Dreams

For those who haven't tried a Sphere of Safety deck, you really should - it quickly becomes ridiculous.

Those in my meta rarely hold back instant removal to zap creatures before the aura 'lands' on it.

As for the deck itself, Indrik Umbra and Selesnya Charm are not pulling their weight - the former has too high a cmc and the latter doesn't flow in this deck.  Selesnya Sagittars works, but just seems... off, somehow.  I really didn't like it when it came out in Ravnica, either.  Still, it is gold/hybrid.

Centaur Healer is a surprisingly fine card at the kitchen table, even without a stack of auras on it.  Prison Term is a hoot in an MP environment.

Comments are very welcome, but I'd like to keep creatures gold/hybrid in color and all recommendations in the Modern border, even if not Modern legal.  If it matters, I am most likely to play this in 3-6 player games.

Thank you!

I'll bite. It's really a bummer you insist on having White/Green creatures only. Kor Spiritdancer, Silhana Ledgewalker and Aura Gnarlid are better than probably any creatures you are running now. I would try to lower the curve, you don't need big creatures if you are going to pump them anyways. Loxodon Smiter for instance seems like he would be good here. Armadillo Cloak is silly good but I can't remember off the top of my head if that is Modern or not, and in a deck like this can gain you tons of life, really great in multiplayer because you can use it on an opponents creature to prevent them from dealing damage to you, but still gain life when they attack others. You have no card draw, I would work on fixing that. I don't know what to recommend because you insist on having only White/Green creatures. Harmonize is better than nothing. Garruk, Primal Hunter works too. Staff of Nin costs a lot to cast, but it's probably a long multiplayer game so it's an option I guess.

If you really like the Sphere of Safety stuff, you can double down and run Ghostly Prison, it's really hillarious, and everyone will hate you.
I don't bite, don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions or thoughts about deck ideas I post or anything Magic the Gathering related. My Causal Modern Decks Swag Flu (Mono Black Infect) American Super Friends (White/Blue/Red Planeswalker Control) Hong Kong (White/Red Norin Tokens)
agree w honor. there's really no point to your creatures when you can have creatures that either have hexproof or give rewards when targeted by auras.
the scion is pretty cool though.
selesnya charm is awsome, there's very few decks vs which it doesnt pull its weight. might be less awsome in multiplayer though

multiplayer has already seemed really weird - seems to me that the guy that other people choose not to attack wins and that theres little objective reason to choose to target one player over the other... Havent played it much but it seemedsilly to me^^

anyway given that its always hard to advice. enchantments isnt a very powerful strategy vs multiple opponents but maybe thats a good thing, that youre not too powerful...
Thank you, both.

Snake Umbras provide my draw, albeit in a conditional manner.  I think I may have some Harmonizes kicking about, so I can look for those.

I appreciate the concern with my substandard creatures.  The truth is that I am bored with running the most optimized decks, and am trying to scale back; my play group seems to prefer my decks over their own, and while that is flattering, it also implies that they have no need to collect cards of their own or build their own decks.  That said, the Aura Gnarlid in particular is tempting, so my desire for gold critters may slip.

While Armadillo Cloak is not Modern legal, it has appeared in Modern frames, via Archenemy and a Duel Deck, so would fit if I stumble across one.  Doubling down with Ghostly Prison made me lol.  The stall this deck generates is enough with the Spheres (no one in my meta runs enchantment sweepers, and this deck takes wild advantage of that fact).

After posting the decklist, I revised the deck a tiny bit:

-1 Indrik Umbra
-1 Selesnya Charm
-1 Kitchen Finks
-1 Selesnya Sagittars
+1 Rancor
+1 Dauntless Escort
+2 Enlisted Wurm

Having never actually played cascade, the Wurms look to be entertaining.

As it stands, I am entertaining vague ideas of this deck eventually branching into Cloudstone Curio territory, but that almost demands splashing blue for Reality Acid.

I have found MP games to involve almost constant threat reevaluation, especially when the decks involved are a known quantity.  Then it becomes a game of who needs to be removed from the game before they kill the table; as several of the decks in my meta run cards that benefit everyone (until victory is clinched), weighing the advantage of keeping those cards in play vs. killing the guy who played them becomes almost a subgame of sorts.

Still, MP metas can be drastically different, ranging from groups that race to end things (our record is a 15-minute 9 player game involving Mana Geyser and Comet Storm) to those that prefer the glacially slow games that are measured in hours (no, thank you.)  Highly competitive to highly ... uncompetitive.  Gentlemen's agreements abound regarding specific cards and strategies that are deemed "too effective" or "too unfun," leading to those cards and strategies not seeing play.  So learning and growing a metagame is a rewarding task, at least it has been for me.

This might be hard to give advice to someone who has help me out more than once and most likely has more knowledge of the game but here we go anyway.  Since your not running the other enchantress in why not run Enchantress's Presence, this would give you the draw you need.  Also you need a way to protect your enchantments, Sterling Grove can do that and it can serve as a tutor.

A few creatures i think would be good for this type of deck would be, Charging Troll nothing like having a regenerator first striker.  Steward of Valeron would give you alittle ramp.  Qasali Pridemage would be nice to deal with enchantments and artifacts that your opponents might be a problem.  Loxodon Hierarch would be nice if someone plays something like earthquake.

well, I agree that you want cheaper critters. but since I'm not very familiar with what can be done in W/G only critters let me focus on enchantments.

first things I'll point out are sigil of the nayan gods, sigil of the empty throne, beastmaster ascension, and battle mastery. the sigils mostly work together and with other forms of token gen, but more pump is more pump. and chump blockers are always good to have.
and...yeah that last two for all the obvious reasons.

one card I'm shocked you didn't include is asceticism. if it seems too much for you try this, take a shot of something strong every time you're friends forget you have it on the field. I think you will find it evens out quickly.

I find that these decks work best when they combine the various pump sources they have with some version of unblockable. that is why aura gnarlids and invisible stalkers are so good in these decks. unfortunatly the only thing I can think of that fits your criteria is pentarch ward, and I'm not sure if it's modern legal. and if you can't find some form of unblockable then.............. well then I'll be very surprised. but in that case get yourself some overrun, overwhelming stampede, or heck even triumph of the horde.

point is you need something to make the damage go threw. I hope that helped.
Kinda surprised

haven't been mentioned yet especially the first two
It might be worth running Safehold Elites to ensure you have guys to enchant. It's a shame Dowsing Shaman isn't multicolored, he seems nice for multiplayer games.
Lots of food for thought from all of you.  Thank you.

I will be at the FLGS tonight, so perhaps I can come home with some of the recommendations.
