This thread is for discussion of this week's Latest Developments, which goes live Friday morning on magicthegathering.com.

COOL story.

The story is COOL. Not nice.
Does Dave Humpherys really have a Ph.D. in cloning stuff?
So technically Island Fish Jasconius has seen Pro Tour play? That's pretty funny. Cool
so is that a typo "as a mutant"?
Taanage Mutent Ninja Turtles!
so is that a typo "as a mutant"?

Nope. The creature "enters the battlefield as a Mutant in addition to its other types". It doesn't enter and then afterwards become a Mutant; it is a Mutant from the very first moment it enters the 'field.

I don't normally enjoy tournament reports, but this was quite fun to read. That first "draft" sounds horrifically slow. (And faintly reminiscent of Winston drafting.) Using Magical Hack on Island Fish Jasconius is a truly magnificent story, too.

The preview card doesn't immediately wow me, but I can believe it might be worthy of its mythic status. ...Actually, thinking about it... If you cast 2 of them, all your other stuff then arrives with SIX +1/+1 counters. If you Rancor the first one before you cast the second, all your other stuff then arrives with TEN +1/+1 counters. Okay, that's pretty mythic.

I agree with the typo thing.  Typical wording for something like that is "and is a mutant".
the "and is a mutant" would end if the biomancer died.

but anyway, cool stories. seems like the biomancer is a little random and just... johnny. johnny is great, make cards for him, but.... we got a lot for him. (ooze flux, tyrant, enter the infinite)
The Emperor Rules story - did you play emperor and discard fatties and have your generals animate them? Because, if so, that's awesome. I loved Emperor Rules back in the day. Won an empor rules tournament once with White Weenie with 12 Crusades and lots of 1 drops. Good Times. And Elevator Action is one of the best arcade games ever. Definitely want to know what card was inspired by that.
I think the Master Biomancer is very cool, and would actually make a much better guild leader for the Simic than Prime Speaker Zegana.  My problem with Zegana is her type line, not her abilities. My Vorthos side dislikes that she is a humanoid (merfolk) wizard whose main attribute is being a bigger creature than anything else, and doesn't do anything special (other than being huge) after she is on the battlefield.  Contrast with Arcanis the Omnipotent for what a legendary wizard should do.  My Melvin side thinks that she should not be legendary - when you get to play a creature bigger than anything else, what do you want to do next?  Play a second creature, even bigger than the first one!
Thanks to everyone who helped with the design of the plane of Golamo in the Great Designer Search 2!
